A podcaster shares how they hit $1M+ annually: partner with brand-focused sponsors like DreamHost, post daily for seven years straight, run a two-host format instead of weekly interviews, and collaborate with other creators to reach new audiences.
Chapters
Here's how we make over $1 million a year from our podcast. Number 1, have a host that is into branding. So we've had a great host for the last couple years, DreamHost, and they are strictly in it for the branding and they're not focused on conversion. So the more they focus on branding, the better for you and the better the relationship is going to go because they're not breathing down your neck, tracking your conversions at every single step of the way. Number 2 is consistency. So we have been very consistent for the last 7 years. It doesn't matter if I'm sick or my podcast co-host is sick, we keep going. Number 3 is we zig where other people are zagging. Everyone was doing a weekly, hourly, long-form interview show, we were doing a daily show where it was from 2 actual business operators. And the final thing I'll say for this one is you want to be leveraging collaborations as well because you can basically cherry-pick or piggyback off of someone else's audience.
