Will Smith's fame operates like a managed system. His team follows strict protocols for public encounters, like fan approaches at airports. The structure limits everyday freedoms like shopping, but creates a balance between privacy and public life.

One of the things I learned following Will Smith around for 2 years was that fame just becomes another system that needs to be managed, right? His exposure to the public is something that is carefully managed, and the people on his team have protocols and processes. If he gets approached at the airport by a fan, everybody on his team knows exactly— Will knows how he needs to respond, his managers know how they need to respond, his security know how they need to respond. So it's something that you— Can structure another system around. Obviously it limits your life in a lot of ways. You know, it's not like Will can like go buy a turkey at Whole Foods. It does become manageable and you can kind of reach a happy medium with it.
