Eric Siu argues that money doesn't determine happiness. He makes real money but chooses joy over chasing extreme wealth, noting that many wealthy people are miserable. You can pick happiness over maximizing income.

Like, you're allowed to make less money for much more joy even at high levels. Like, when people talk about like, don't choose money over happiness, they always think of like the guy backpacking in fucking Peru. No, no. I'm doing that right now. You're happy. But I'm also making real money. Yeah. But like, yes, I'm aware I can make a lot more money but I don't want to, dickface. I want to be happy. Why would I want to be miserable and make $100 more million a year? Why would I want to do that? Who wants to be miserable? This has been my whole rant for the last 7 years. As my content evolves, I'm like, okay, I understand if you don't have money that you think money is the answer. But I'm telling you right now, I know unlimited. You already know at this young of age in your circles. How many people are deeply hurt and dark and miserable with plenty of money? Too many. Too many. The end. As many as that are miserable and sad without money. Money is not the variable of happiness.
