Not happy? This may change everything.

Eric Siu argues that happiness isn't the absence of problems but choosing which ones to solve. Self-improvement means picking your own challenges instead of dealing with ones forced on you.

You talked about how happiness comes from solving problems. Can you elaborate on that? Because everyone just wants to be happier. So I figured you might have this mastered already. Sure. Yeah, I'm always happy, like 24/7. No, I think I like to frame happiness as the process of moving from one problem to a slightly better problem, or moving from problems you don't want to have to problems you like having, because it's an inevitability that we're always going to experience problems in life. We don't have full control over the world. We don't always get what we want. Life is finite. We all age and die. Problems happen. So the question is, are you currently confronting and dealing with the problems that you want to be confronting and dealing with, or are you confronting and dealing with problems that are kind of just thrust upon you? I think a lot of what is considered self-improvement is learning how to direct yourself away from the problems you don't want and towards the problems you do want.
