The excerpt is a short podcast exchange between two hosts (labeled SPEAKER A and SPEAKER B) discussing their DreamHost sponsorship: ad length (~20–45 seconds), the deal paying about $60k per month, an approximate revenue split of $27.5k each, and reflections that they hadn’t started monetizing until 3–4 years in and weren’t originally doing the podcast for the money.

So DreamHost, which we love, they have a great culture as a company as well. They were sponsor of our podcast for how many years? 3 years, I think. 3 and a half, maybe. 3 and a half years. Less than a 1-minute ad. How long was the ad? Like 20 seconds? 30 to 45 seconds. Per episode, that was our only ad spot. $60 grand a month. There was not really many costs in running a podcast. So Eric and I would pocket around $27.5 grand each. Yeah, and they were a great partner. Great partner. And they were happy with us for— they dragged it on for 3 years. We were sad to see them go. I don't know if they were as sad to see us go. Who knows?
I'm happy to continue doing this podcast. That's all I know. Well, we never did it for the money in the first place. No, in the beginning it was all for the learnings and we didn't monetize until 3, 4 years into it. Like that shows you that like we weren't in it for the money. I never cared for the money. I was like, eh, whatever. Until I showed you a really good deal 3 years ago. That was a really good deal. But before, Neil's like, no, we don't need to do ads. I was like, hey, what about this contract over here? He's like, let's do it.
