Should CEOs Be Knee-Deep in AI? (It Depends on Your Industry)

Two speakers debate how hands-on CEOs should be with AI. One cites Paul Graham's argument that tech startup CEOs who dive too deep into AI risk distraction and organizational chaos. The other counters that it depends on the industry: a cold-storage trucking CEO should focus on logistics, not AI, even if AI could help.
So he says, the only thing worse than having the CEO knee-deep in building stuff with AI is not having the CEO knee-deep in building stuff with AI.
I look at that as it depends on the type of company you are. Paul Graham typically deals with startups and product people and engineers. So in that case, I totally agree. But for all companies, I would not say it's a good fit to have someone knee-deep just building things in AI. Example of this is, and this is an extreme example, let's say you're a cold storage trucking company. I know someone who actually owns one of those things where, you know, fruits, vegetables, when it gets transported or food gets transported, a lot of it has to be in temperature-controlled storage units, and then it has to be delivered to facilities that are temperature-controlled, and then from there it gets distributed to, let's say, grocery stores. Having the CEO of that company being knee-deep in AI, I'm not saying AI can't help them. I don't know if them focusing the majority of their time on AI is right for that industry or that job, but there are cases where it is. And I would say there's also cases where it isn't.
Dude, I gotta show you this graph shortly, but my take on the Paul Graham post is this. So one, I think he's saying that Okay, it's really bad to have the CEO knee-deep in building stuff with AI because it causes a lot of distraction. It causes a lot of thrash in the organization too, because now that someone like me, especially I like, I have all these ideas all the time, I'm maybe starting to pry into other people's GitHub repos. Hey, how's this going? Hey, I'm going to ship this PR today. So it does start to cause a lot of chaos, but I think he's also saying for tech startups, but if also the CEO's not super AI-pilled, he's not going to know how to really steer the ship, right? At least in a tech startup environment. Now look, If you're a trucking company or we're talking about like an agricultural company, maybe not so much, but my take on it is I think that if you're a
