Eric Siu shares how he scaled Single Grain from 3-4K to 250K monthly visits. The key moves: publish consistently, write long-form research pieces worth linking to, hire top freelance writers at $75 per post, and update old posts. One post grew from 2K to 18K visits after he revised it.

In this clip, we are gonna talk about a step-by-step plan to break over 100,000 visits to your website. But before we do, don't forget to rate, review, subscribe wherever you are. If you're watching on video, if you're listening on podcasts, if you like things around marketing and around business and just entrepreneurship in general. In terms of getting to 100,000 visits, it's not as difficult as you think. As a matter of fact, there's one website we took from about 0 to 2 million visits a month plus. In the last 2 years or so, and it's been really fast growth. Our site right now on Single Grain is about 250,000 visits a month, that's overall visits. Before I took over the company, we were only getting about 3,000 to 4,000 visits a month, which anybody can do, it just takes writing a little bit of content and just letting the site sit there for a while. What you have to do first is being consistent over time. If you're gonna publish one time a week, publish one time a week. There's a friend of mine, his name is Brian Dean, Backlinko, his site actually gets about 350,000, 400,000 visits a month right now, And he doesn't have that much content, maybe 40 or 50 blog posts. So, publish on a schedule, and then have some kind of content tilt. What I mean by that is, he is going after really long-form, well-researched pieces of content, and that tends to do really well, and it gets a lot of links. Those 2 things matter, right? Good content, and a good link profile, those things matter the most when it comes to generating more traffic, also known as SEO traffic, coming to your site. So, you're basically combining SEO and content marketing. Or else, you can go to hire out writers. So, I recommend going to Problogger, ProBlogger, you can find really good writers out there, and there's a jobs board. You might pay $75 or so, and then you can go find these writers. And then vet these writers, hire really good writers, keep them on a short leash. If they don't do a good job, a lot of them are not gonna do a good job, that's totally fine. Find the ones that are gold, maybe 10 to 20% of them are gold, and just continue to work with them. And once you start to get a base going, maybe after 6 months or so, start to look back at the content that started to perform, okay? And then think about, how you can update that content. So a piece that you wrote a year ago might not be as relevant now. Maybe you can add another paragraph or another 2 paragraphs to it. As a matter of fact, we had this one post that was getting maybe, you know, 2,000 visits a month. We upgraded it, jumped up to 4,000, jumped up to 8,000, jumped up to 12,000. Now it's at about 18,000 visits a month. And that's the magic of updating, because if you think about it, Wikipedia, why did they rank for so much content? Because their content's getting upgraded all the time. So think about how you can do that. Long-form content, updating it, it's a formula that works. Think about how you can apply that to your business. I don't care if you're in e-commerce, I don't care if you're just selling mints, I don't care if you're just selling plungers, you can find a way to be creative. Long-form content, upgrade it, be more useful. And here's the thing, if you're just selling plungers, I would argue that maybe you're not as useful as you wanna be, and maybe you don't deserve, no offense to you, you don't deserve to get that amount of traffic, because you're not adding that much utility to, you know, people around the world, right? Maybe you might have the best plunger in the world that cures, like, I don't know, cures cancer. Well, you know what? Then you have a lot more content to write about because you could write about all the effects around cancer and you can write about this magic plunger. It's kind of funny, but at the same time I'm being serious. I remember one of my friends started a business and maybe I might share this video with him. He started a lighter business. He drop shipped lighters, which are super cheap in itself, And that was his business. And he's like, yep, I proved to myself that I can do this entrepreneurship thing. And I was like, man, you proved absolutely nothing. I think I'm gonna send this video to him. The other thing, I mean, we talked about links, we talked about long-form content, we talked about updating, we talked about, look, we talked about being useful to society too. And by the way, like, there's nothing wrong if you're selling plungers or lighters. Like, if it fits your lifestyle, fine. But don't think you're entitled to visit or get, you know, 100,000 visitors just because you're putting in the work. Just because you're putting in the work doesn't mean you deserve to get there. Um, so that's just a little kind of my, um, it's not a rant, it's more so my advice on that. So let me know what you plan to do to get to 100,000 visitors a month. Maybe drop your website inside of the comments or maybe inside of the review. Maybe I'll read your review if you're coming from podcast. Rate, review, subscribe, please, please, please. It helps so much and we will see you tomorrow. Bye.
