Eric Siu says buying cheap backlinks and spun content doesn't work anymore because search algorithms got smarter. SEO still matters for organic traffic, but it's a long game that compounds over time, not a quick fix like paid ads.

What's not working in SEO for you? So I think what's not working is if you go back 10 years, the old black hat ways of like spinning a bunch of content up and then buying a bunch of cheap links, that stuff doesn't work as well anymore because the algorithms have gotten a lot more sophisticated. And SEO obviously isn't just Google, it's App Store optimization, it's YouTube SEO. These are kind of the main things that matter. But SEO still matters because like as long as people are searching for things, like there's still SEO, right? So the people that say, oh, I'd rather run paid traffic, you know, or whatever, SEO is kind of the gift that keeps on giving. It's the gift that compounds. And I don't see them as competitive. I see them as very complementary to each other. So that type of stuff no longer works. And buying cheap articles for like $50 doesn't work as well. I'm still surprised to see people doing it in today's day and age. But yeah, it doesn't work.
