Eric Siu walks through a reflection exercise called Then, Now, and Later: looking back 10 years, assessing where you are now at 39 or 40, and projecting ahead to ambitious goals. He uses his own life, marriage, kids, and business revenue targets as examples of how to think about your trajectory.

You're not the type of person to do this, but it'll be fun if you do it. Okay. It's called Then, Now, and Later. So you basically reflect on 10 years ago. And then, so 10 years ago, like, what were you doing? Where were you in your life? Like, how are things going overall? Am I making sense so far? Yeah. Okay. When you look at now, it's like, okay, how are things going now? Like, you're 40, I'm 39 years old, we're around the same age. Like, you know, is our life— did it turn out the way we expected it to be? How's it going now? You're married, we're with kids, right? And all that. Then you do 10 years out, like what's going to be happening in 10 years, right? Are you doing like $2 billion in revenue, $3 billion in revenue, whatever, right? So I thought that was a great exercise because people really got to reflect. If you want more insights like this on AI, marketing, and business, follow to learn more.
