Today we're going to talk about the best social media marketing careers for 2021 and beyond. Social media is very broad. There's a lot of stuff that goes into it. So the first thing I'm going to say is in general, just having a social media content creator, um, is what everyone's looking for. I'm always looking for these types of people for our software business, our ad agency, um, to either help ourselves or to help our clients, whatever it is exactly. We're always looking for social media content creators. So what does that mean exactly? So A social media content creator could be someone that is posting for Instagram, posting for Twitter, posting for LinkedIn, right? You could have someone that specializes for a specific channel. They just go really deep on it, or someone that's handling kind of the daily posting, right? They're not trying to innovate. They're kind of just trying to make sure that you know you're active on all the channels, right? So it just depends on whatever job you're applying for. A specialist is going to be able to do a lot cooler things, and they're going to have a lot more free rein. So when you think about Gary Vee's team, he's got 30, 40, 50 people on his brand team, and there's people that specialize on TikTok, people that specialize on YouTube, people that specialize on podcasting. You know, if you're going to apply for a smaller company, they might be looking for someone that can do kind of a bit of everything, right? Kind of more again, more of a generalist. Social media content creators, those are always in demand. And you know, I would say pick a channel that you really identify with, figure out and just kind of figure out how to become world class at it. And yeah, feel free to reach out to me. You can hit me up on Twitter or Instagram DM, right? Because we're always looking for talent. The second thing I would say is if you're more of a strategist, maybe you don't want to be doing the posting. Maybe you become a brand strategist. You're the one that comes up with the different types of concepts. Maybe you're the one that's out there looking, looking for inspiration, right? And then you're kind of guiding the creators, telling them what to do, right? So strategy is really important because it guides the tactics. And, you know, brand strategists are very hard to find. The best people out there that you see on social media, they have very strong brand management or brand strategy going on there. The third thing I would say is the best YouTubers have the best thumbnails, right? So a thumbnail designer is really important. When you think about like a MrBeast as an example, Thumbnail designers, arguably, they should be making a lot more money because these are the people that come up with a good concept to try to drive more clicks. 'Cause if you think about it this way, if your video gets a million views on it, that seems good, right? But if your video has a 1% click-through rate and it has a million views, that means 100 million people saw the thumbnail and 99 million people did not click, right? So if you can get that thumbnail to entice people, maybe get that click-through rate to 5% or 10%, you're gonna have 10 million people, 5 million people viewing the video, right? It's a lot more than 1 million. And so you might be thinking, oh, 1 million is good enough. Well, you know, you always want to go for more, you know, the bigger that you get, right? So a thumbnail designer is becoming more and more important. I would just say, you know, understand how to kind of negotiate your worth or, you know, kind of move on from there, right? Because, you know, you want to, you know, make sure that you can put food on the table. And then the 4th one would be a meme goddess or a god. That means you can use a tool like piñonafarms.com. You can make memes, right? Memes are very digestible. They're very easy to watch and Because the faster someone digests or understands your concept, the more likely they are to engage with it, the more likely they are to kind of share it with people, tell other people about it. I think a content creator is very important for, especially if you look at the, all the podcasts that I'm doing for Leveling Up, for Marketing School, the YouTube videos I'm doing, all the other content I'm trying to create, or when I'm speaking at a conference, this content should all be chopped up. There's all these takeaways. We can put it onto IGTV, we can put it onto Instagram Reels, we can put it onto YouTube Shorts. Put it into stories. There's so much content to chop up, right? And actually, I would argue a content creator might not be the best fit. Maybe they're the ones posting, but if you're going to have someone that's editing, that's going to be even more powerful, right? But in this case, you actually might need a video editor to help you. The more video editors you have, the better. It might even help to have a couple of social media interns as well. And a lot of these roles I'm talking about, you can probably train up from kind of a junior social media person and train them up into, you know, doing amazing things, right? And then Look for the ones that are really humble, hungry, smart, and then kind of just help them help them level up. Now the last one, a paid social media manager. It means running Instagram ads, YouTube ads, trying to get more reach for whoever it is that you're working for. Not only will you have a job from a social media standpoint, but you'll always have a job at a you know cool tech company or an agency because people are always looking for you know paid media managers, right? In this case, you're specializing in paid social.
