Eric Siu breaks activities into four categories based on whether you love them and must do them. Prioritize work you both love and must do, accept necessary unpleasant tasks, and redefine love as deep meaning rather than fleeting excitement.

One really good exercise for this is to break all the things that you do into 4 categories. The first is things that I love to do and have to do. The second is things that I don't love to do and have to do. The third is things that I don't love to do and have to do. And the fourth is things that I don't love to do and don't have to do. And if you can break everything that you do into those 4 categories, what you want is love to do and have to do as much as possible. Yeah. There's certain things that are don't love to do and have to do, and sometimes you're just gonna have to suck that up. But then the other thing is sort of redefining what love is. And I think of love is something that's far more enduring. And then the key thing there is redefining what love is. Love is not excitement. Love is not this like giddy, woo, we get to go do this. Love is this deep, enduring sense of meaning and satisfaction and purpose. And when you have that and you get to have your work exist inside of that sandbox, I think you get really good outcomes.
