Eric Siu regrets trying to do everything himself as trader, marketer, and leader, which burned him out and killed his passion. He was afraid no one could fill his shoes, but now knows hiring an operator would have freed him to focus on strategy and stay excited about the work.
That's one of my biggest regrets and like worst mistakes that I've made in business. Everything's moving so fast. You're learning about taxes and this and that and hiring and firing. And I should have, if I had known what I know now, I should have hired an operator that could have filled my shoes. But I was worried that nobody could fill my shoes because I was the trader, I was the marketer, I was the everything, and I was falling out of love with it. And one of my core beliefs is that you should chase excitement all the time.
