Eric Siu compares Google search to ChatGPT, showing how ChatGPT gives complete answers to complex queries like LaTeX equations while Google returns scattered links. He argues this could fundamentally disrupt how people search.

Here's why Google or search might just change forever. So there's this new technology called ChatGPT released by OpenAI, and here's the thing, I'm just going to show you on my screen right now how it looks. If you can see over here, this is what happens when you ask this question to Google. So in LaTeX, how do I represent a differential equation? And you can see it basically just shows a page over here and you basically just get this snippet. Now when you ask this question to this search interface known as ChatGPT, you can just ask the same question. This is what you get over here, you get a complete answer, and it's not just a little snippet with 4 steps where you have to click in. So this is arguably a much better user experience, and search engines should be prepared to get disrupted because it's going to completely change the game.
