Eric Siu explains how to nail a presentation or event: ask the organizer what success looks like, figure out who's in the room and who they actually want to reach, then build your talk around that specific win.

You should always ask the event organizer what a home run looks like to the audience. Who's in the audience and what does a home run look like? And then you can tailor around that. A lot of people don't even ask what a win looks like, and that's setting yourself up to fail. But you need to ask who's in the audience and who's the ideal customer before you even make your presentation. You want to make sure you adapt to them.
