Hire community managers from within the community itself. Look for the most active, organically engaged members, even if they have unrelated day jobs like dentistry or corporate marketing. They already understand the mission.
Where the hell do you go to hire amazing community managers?
So this is a controversial take within the community management space, what I'm about to say, which is you hire within the community. You find people who are super active within your community that are just inherently organically doing a good job at being engaged. And you say, hey, I, I know you're a dentist, or I know you're a marketing manager at Coca-Cola, but would you be willing to join as a community manager at Y Combinator? Those are the best people because they understand your mission.
