Eric Siu argues that company ethos isn't something you create from scratch. Instead, you document what your organization actually does. If you say "move fast" but don't, nobody believes it.

Keith Rabois, he's got this quote. He says, you don't create your company ethos, you just document them. So if you sit down and you're like, oh, we're gonna move fast, we're gonna do that, like whatever, nobody gives a shit. And plus that shit changes every 60 days too. Of course. But if you sit down and you say, what do we actually do? Man, we are fast. And everyone in the room feels it, write that one down. Yeah. But if you write it down and you're not actually moving fast— It feels a little— Well, immediately everyone in the room's just like, yeah, okay, whatever. Like whatever the next one that you write down, like, yeah, whatever. Yeah. Right? Yeah. Believes in whatever the ethos of the business are. And so I love that framework of just like document what you do at the business. Don't prescribe it.
