Here's how to build the best marketing team to propel your business to the next level. Number 1, you wanna look for people that have tenure. So when you look at someone's LinkedIn or their resume, have they stayed somewhere for a couple years? Ideally more than 3 years, ideally 5 years or so. And the second thing you wanna look for is have they actually been promoted? Do they have a track record of getting things done at that company where they've been promoted 1 time, ideally 2 times? And if they have a track record of doing that and it's a role that you're looking for, you're looking for that world champion that's been there, done that. So you don't need to tell them what to do. They will tell you what to do. The second thing is sending them a written prompt, because when you see how they think about critical questions and you see how they write, well, that's going to be a lot of the work that they're going to be doing because it's a lot of communication at the end of the day. The other piece is reference checks. So what you're looking for here is people that are very excited to talk about the person, and also if the people would rehire. You can generally get a quick vibe check within the first 5 minutes talking to references and also talking to the candidate as well.
