This is a YouTube video titled "- Uncovering the Mysteries of Male Factor Infertility with Additional Testing" (published 2022-07-12) featuring Erica Hoke, a fertility coach who calls herself the "Infertile Mama Flora." In a solo presentation she explains that basic semen analysis (count, morphology, motility) can miss genetic/chromosomal causes of male infertility, shares the case of Constance and Andre Lewis—where a balanced translocation in the male partner led to multiple failed IUI/IVF cycles and lost opportunities—and strongly advocates for extended male genetic testing. She directs viewers to a longer interview on her YouTube channel and a coauthored book, and warns that some doctors may not order comprehensive testing.

me. If you just stumbled upon my page and you don't know who I am, I'm Erica Hoke. I'm the Infertile Mama Flora. I'm a fertility coach, and I'm here to help as many women and as many couples as possible achieve their dreams. So the topic that we're talking about this morning is what— why a normal semen analysis, why a— this is not enough. Okay, so the The thing bringing this up is I see clients that have a couple of different things, um, come into play when it comes to male factor infertility. If you haven't heard me talk about this before, the statistics for male factor infertility are actually, um, almost equal to female infertility issues. So, um, a third of all infertility cases are female only. Um, causes, a third are this, and then that remaining third plus the other 10% are caused by both, um, of the both, both partners, both people having, um, having infertility issues. And that was the story that I'm getting ready to share with you. Um, I want to really highlight this, and I don't have enough time here this morning, but I have an extended interview that I'm going to drop the link, um, on my YouTube channel that I did with them. But one of my authors of Infertility Success: Your Journey, um, her partner— you guys, this is the thing. So she had failed IUIs, um, she had 2 failed IVF procedures, she had diminished ovarian preserve. And after, um, only after, um, she had used all of her, um, eggs did the doctor suggest— the fertility doctor suggest— that her husband should have some additional chromosomal testing. Now I'm talking about Constance and Andre Lewis, and, um, they lost the opportunity to use con using donor eggs because the doctors did not do an extended testing panel on Andre. And come to find out, he had something called balanced translocation disorder. Okay, it's a disorder, but it's relatively common. And, you know, the thing about it is because not only did she have to endure all of those failed procedures, lose the opportunity to have, um, utilize her eggs, but also all the money. They didn't refund you guys. So this is why I am advocating so strongly for you to make sure that you're getting tested for the things that you need to get tested for. Sure, those tests are more expensive, but I want you to consider that it's like any— you're laying out all this money. Constance and Andre laid out all this money for 6 IUIs, the, the time, pain, effort, um, IVF procedures, and all of it could have been solved according to the doctor. With a simple— if that doesn't give you pause, if you're watching this and that doesn't give you pause, I'm, I'm probably not your person. Like, you need to understand, not every doctor is going to test you for everything that they could test you for, and they might not even recommend it because it, it a lot of times is not in their best interest, right? So a basic Erika Hoke says, test for 3 things. You're looking for total count of sperm in the semen. You're looking for which the morphology is, shape, and that they look the way that they're supposed to. And then the third thing, and that's how active, how much they're moving around and that sort of thing. But it does not if any kind of genetic or chromosomal testing, and they could have saved themselves a lot of heartache and a lot of money, and just things could have been totally different. So that's why I'm highlighting today why a normal sperm count isn't always a plus gold seal, and maybe if you're having continued problems with your IVF and your IUI procedures that you should take a deeper look book into something for male factor infertility, something regarding male factor infertility. Okay. If you want to hear the rest of their story, I'm going to drop the link to the YouTube video below. You can check that out or you can pick our book collaboration up on amazon.com or where books are sold because it's on Target now and Walmart and stuff too. So, all right. Health and blessings to you guys. Catch you later. Bye-bye.
