10 Minutes Journey | From Stressful Times to Unforgettable Cruise Experiences

In this 10‑minute travel vlog, Evan Carmichael and his partner Nina document a spontaneous last‑minute cruise vacation that begins with a stressful rush to catch a flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The video captures a series of candid moments: a naked man occupying their cabin, the receipt of a complimentary drink credit, a series of meals ranging from pasta to watermelon soup and strawberry ice‑cream, and the challenges of a one‑hour time‑zone shift that throws off their schedule. They discuss internet upload frustrations, a brief nap, a workout on the ship’s ellipticals, and the fulfillment of a wedding tradition by sending a message‑in‑a‑bottle out to sea. The vlog culminates in a formal night dinner, a missed show, and a salsa competition where they place third. Throughout, the tone is informal, humorous, and occasionally frustrated, offering a slice‑of‑life look at cruise life, the couple’s dynamic, and the small adventures that make the trip memorable.

Lunchtime. Are you hungry? No. No, I'm glad that was on camera. I hope the microphone picked it up.
I don't know why you fit me the banana.
There's a naked man in our cabin. Good morning, it's early and we're going to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Nina's been really stressed out, so we decided to go on vacation at the last minute. We're gonna go on a cruise and relax and spend New Year's away. Quick breakfast, hopefully don't miss our flight, and then hop our cruise around the Caribbean islands from San Juan. Here we go, let's have some fun in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico! Welcome to Puerto Rico Airport. Look how sunny it is. Find the cab, get to the cruise ship. Ah, I'm excited.
Hi.
Hello.
Oh.
An unexpected start to our cruise. There's a naked man in our cabin, so let's see what happens. So while we wait for our room and the guy to get out, they gave us a drink credit. So we're gonna have— what are we gonna have?
This is the mojito. Option B, uh, strawberry margarita.
I'm feeling this, but let's try.
No, you will like the sweet sugars. Oh, what, not cheers? He's gonna spill, friend. Holy cow, it's not bad.
He spilled on himself a bit.
You like the strawberry?
Oh, this is stronger though. Yeah, yeah, this is stronger than that. Okay, sit down with your husband. We haven't really eaten, so you know, when you don't eat, you got to have alcohol. Cheers.
Yeah, you didn't got to come around.
This is strong. It's strong, man.
See, we're hungry.
We're gonna get some food. All that alcohol, I downed my drink, I downed it. I don't feel a little woozy, so I gotta get some food. And Nina's hungry. Before she gets angry, we need to feed her. All right, our first meal is with the view. Look at that view! And Nina wanted to eat healthy and be— live, live a healthy lifestyle. So what, what are we eating as our first meal? Pasta.
We got two kinds of rice and two kinds pasta.
Okay, we're going to work it off.
Dinner.
And I went with pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, and a hot dog. We are starving and we're going to eat. Okay, round 2 is a little healthier. Little healthier. Nina's got some salad and I've got some salad with some french fries on top. How's the soup?
Salty.
Salty. What is it?
Day 1.
It's all the same, friends. Daily trivia. Trivia are questions that you have to try to answer. We're staying true to our policy of trying to take the stairs whenever possible, except for that first elevator trip because we're hungry. We're going back to the cabin because Nina's getting tired. She hasn't slept and we have to have dinner in, in, uh, an hour and a half. So you gotta rest up, friend. We just had an insanely big lunch. Okay, Nina slept a little bit. Still tired. Now we gotta go find dinner. So we missed our dinner because we're supposed to go early, which nobody told us about. So we're kind of upset, especially me. I'm more upset. Nina's pretty relaxed and chill. We have to go to buffet for dinner, which I'm not happy about because they're rushing us to go to the mandatory— what is it— mandatory safety drill, which we're not going to. Royal Caribbean, not going to your mandatory drill. Uh-uh, not happening. But what is exciting is watermelon soup and ice cream with toppings. Strawberry ice cream with caramel sauce and white chocolate chips. Okay, I know I went on a little bit of a rant back there, but the strawberry ice cream is actually really good, so I'm happy.
Morning!
So it's day 2. We didn't film anything else yesterday because— yeah, Inna passed out at 6:30. At night and woke up at 9 to get some breakfast and then continue with the day. There's a 1-hour time difference. That's why everything is messed up. So we missed breakfast. We gotta go get a buffet. Okay, we're gonna hit it for lunch. We're gonna hit it for lunch. We're gonna not get messed up on the time anymore. All right, breakfast outside. What's Nina eating? Nina's eating food. Eggs, sausage, tomatoes, bananas. And I have Raisin Bran, Sausages, hash brown, and fruit. That's our view.
Ready to eat. It's sunny out here, I need my sun hat. I don't know why you fit me the banana. I want to make some smoothies, but they don't have spinach or kale.
We're going for lunch because all we do is eat. So far, I'm worried about the internet transfer. I had 7.5 gigs of video to send to Christina yesterday, and it's only transferred 50 megabytes of it so far. So, uh, yeah, that's gonna be fun. We'll see what happens. Lunchtime. Are you hungry?
No, no, I'm eating my salad.
So we're done lunch. Very full. Very full.
You didn't finish yours.
No, you didn't finish yours either. We're gonna walk around. Right, Nina? Walk off some of the food we just ate. Nina needs her daily sudoku. We made a pit stop in the cabin, and I came out of the washroom and found Nina already asleep in bed. Maybe not asleep, but in bed. How come you're sleeping, Nina?
I went to sleep. Wake me up.
Don't forget. Wake you up. Okay.
Wake up. Wake up.
We lay down.
Yeah.
Evan fell asleep. For how long?
I don't know.
3 hours? How long were you asleep for?
4:30, 1:30.
3 hours. 3 hours. So we're going to work out.
Yeah.
No, we're going to do something special first, then work out, then get ready for dinner because it's a formal night. We have to look good. So we got married just over a year ago, a year and a half ago. We went on a cruise right after, and we told everybody at the wedding that we want you to write a wish for us and a wish for yourself in the bottle, and then on our cruise we would throw it into the water so that it would go off to sea like a message in a bottle. Yeah, but then we forgot to bring the bottle with us. Now here we are, and it's been sitting in the house for a year and a half. So we— when we booked the cruise, the first thing I did was put the bottle, find it in the drawer, and, uh, packed it. So this is us keeping our commitment to everybody who came to our wedding. Thank you for the great message for yourselves and for us, and we're gonna send it off into the water. Yay! This is where all the healthy people are, in the gym. We're doing ellipticals. Machine is angry at me that I'm not holding on to it. There's Nina. Faster, Nina. I'm tired. We're out of shape. Lots of sweat.
We haven't really done cardio for a long time.
I know. How you feeling? I'm sweating. Okay, shower, makeup, getting changed, dinner, and then salsa after. All right, it's dinner time, formal night, so we're dressed up. We're not gonna miss dinner today even though we are kind of late. Nina took extra time getting ready. Let's have a good time and eat. How is it? It's good.
Very sweet, just like you.
Oh, hello. Super full. Yeah, super full. Nina wants to go have another nap because we have, uh, time before the show. There she is. And then look at the bed. Elephant. We'll name the elephant Nina. Okay, so after dinner we went back to the room and passed out again. We passed out and Nina got changed. Yeah, we missed the show and we're gonna go see if we can do some dancing. So we did the salsa competition and we came in third place. We came in third place because it was heavily biased, but it's okay. We had fun. Yeah, because we weren't from— because everybody in the boat is from Puerto Rico, so they cheer for Puerto Rico regardless of talent. But it's okay. Uh, I was thinking of filming it, but I didn't know where I could put the camera. That kind of sucks.
You guys are really good. Thank you.
I'm glad that was on camera. It's 11 o'clock.
Evan's hungry.
We're gonna get some pizza, then we're gonna wake up early tomorrow morning for our first stop, Barbados. Good night.
Good night.
