From Local Success in Norway to Global Coaching Mastery

In this coaching session on Evan Carmichael's Believe Nation channel, host Evan Carmichael guides Norwegian mindset coach Anneken Bins through the process of scaling her successful subconscious reprogramming business from a Norway‑focused audience to an English‑speaking global market. Anneken explains her current Norwegian program, recent shift of her Instagram to English, and the modest size of her nascent English email list (33 contacts). Evan challenges her to clarify her brand positioning, suggesting she lean into her Norwegian identity and the country’s strong association with nature and happiness. Together they brainstorm a nature‑themed framework for her method—pulling out limiting beliefs (weeds), planting new empowering beliefs (seeds), and nurturing them with reinforcement (sunlight and water) – and explore naming options such as the “Fjord Method,” “Skog Method,” or “Nature Protocol.” They discuss practical growth tactics: consistent Instagram content, leveraging the algorithm, creating simple, memorable pillars, and using the narrative of Norway as a happy, outdoor‑focused nation to differentiate her offering. The conversation also surfaces Anneken’s core values of freedom and happiness, and how these can be woven into her messaging. Throughout, Evan provides coaching on simplifying complex concepts into digestible, brand‑ready language, while Anneken reflects on aligning her personal story with the new global audience.

Anneken is on a mission to help millions of people transform their lives, but she's starting all over again from scratch. She's built a successful coaching business in Norway, teaching people how to reprogram their minds and find real happiness.
But Norway's only got 5 million people and she's dreaming bigger.
She's making the leap from her comfort zone into a whole new world, stepping onto the global stage. Today I'm coaching Anneken on how to take her powerful message internationally and finally reach the audience she's meant to serve. If you've been here before, drop a hashtag #believe in the comments below so I can feature you here in a future video. And if you're new, welcome to Believe Nation, the only channel that helps you believe in yourself daily, one video at a time.
Believe. All right, we're back. We got Anakin in the house. You got great posture. You're making me want to—
I was just looking at you. I was like, should I— like, this is uncomfortable for me.
Really?
Yeah.
My posture? Oh, we started. This is great. This is part of the show. Justin, are you stepping into the show?
I prefer sitting. Standing up straight.
Really? My posture is terrible typically. This is why I stand on the trampoline all day long, because my default would be— I will sometimes fall out of chairs because of my posture. I'm like leaned back so much. At restaurants, I have fallen out of my chair.
Anyway, that would be funny.
Anakin's back. This is great.
Amazing.
Welcome back. Part of our mastermind group. Helping with my sleep.
How's it going?
Better. So we did a session. Actually, by the time this comes out, that will have been live. Where it helped me focus in on having less stress during the day and more relaxation and downtime. It was hard to do while we were traveling, but now that I'm back, even just breathing— I don't know if I just forget to breathe or it's just super shallow breathing or what, but just remembering to take slower, deeper breaths has dropped my heart rate. I'm not where I want to be yet in terms of more restorative time. But working towards it. So even just the awareness, that was a great session we did. So we'll link it up. You guys can go check it out. But welcome back. How are we doing? How are we growing? How can I help? What's on your mind?
We are doing good.
Okay.
What I want to talk to you about today is the future, expansion, plans for the future.
Nice.
I think since we first connected, I remember we did like an Instagram Live. I was in Hawaii. That's at least 2 years ago.
Yeah.
And I was like, I want to expand into the US. And you're like, okay.
Is that how I sound? No, no.
Okay. No, absolutely not. So— It's great.
It's my new ringtone.
So obviously everything is a process, right? And I've had a business in Norway, which has been great. It has given me great income, changed a lot of lives. And my vision is to spread knowledge about how the mind works to as many people as possible. And we are 5 million in Norway, so that doesn't count as, as many people as possible.
Yeah, sure, for sure.
So I know that I'm, you know, going international with this. I launched my Norwegian course for the last time in March.
Okay.
And I'm not doing it again in Norway.
Wow.
I do still have a coaching program and a membership in Norway.
Okay.
So I do have income coming in. Although that won't last forever.
Right.
Yeah. So my plan is to launch a new program in the US, well, mainly for everyone who speaks English. And I haven't landed the program yet. So I'm in the phase where I'm looking at who it's for and what it's about. I'm 90% there. So I'm—
It's not the same program as what you did in Norway?
No, because— Yeah, I've, I've evolved. So it has a lot of the same components and it's still different, more evolved and a lot better.
Okay, cool. Yeah, I'm excited.
So, and 2 months ago I changed my Instagram from Norwegian to English.
Let's go.
So 82% of my followers were Norwegian at that point. Yep. I'm not exactly sure what like now. And I've been checking engagement on Instagram, and lately it's like 90-ish of the people who are viewing my content are Norwegians.
Yep.
So I'm working against some algorithms, and, you know, I know this is about being in the game for the long term and just continuously putting out content and being smart about it. And where I'm at now, I've just started building my English list. I have 33 people.
Let's go! That's 33. Let's go. Okay.
Yeah. What I wanted to talk to you about is like your viewpoint, some ideas, how to grow more efficiently. What can I do about— I know you're not an Instagram expert anyway, and the algorithm works as it does. And there are many ways to get people into my universe. Ads and, you know, network and a lot of stuff. So Evan, what would you do if you were starting over again, building a list from scratch?
Yeah, Instagram is the most who your current audience is compared to any other platform. I mean, in Norway at least English is spoken, so you'll You know, they won't be as good as in Norwegian, but at least they can still understand a lot of the stuff you're putting out. I think it all just comes down to what is the new direction? You know, what do you want to be known for? Is it the personal development stuff? Is it the mindset shifts? Is it the, you know, we've been talking about sleep and telling your brain to do things that it wouldn't normally do. Like, what do you want to be known for? And then making a content strategy around that. I mean, you've helped me with a bunch of things. It's just been more, you see me struggle with something, you say, hey, I think I can help you with that. And then we just do, you know, some content around it. But what do you want to be known for, at least in English? Or how have you evolved and grown from the typical stuff you're doing in Norway?
Or do you know?
Are you still figuring it out?
Yeah, I am figuring it out, and it's a lot clearer now. So in the beginning, it was the typical mindset, personal development stuff, and A lot of things interest me, and I do a lot of stuff for my clients and in my programs, obviously. So personal development isn't only one thing, you know, there's so many different aspects of your life that get better. And the techniques I use are built around subconscious reprogramming. So it's how we change without using willpower. So in the beginning, I was a little bit reluctant. I was like speaking of, you know, motivation and creating the life you desire. And now I'm more and more leaning towards positioning me as an expert in subconscious reprogramming.
I wonder how much you can leverage being Norwegian in there, because it feels, it's easy to feel like, well, it's a negative, but it could be the strength. So subconscious reprogramming, you know, you're, it's great, it's Joe Dispenza territory, and you know, a lot of different people, but nobody has the European or Norwegian aspect to it. So it's like I read this article, like the Norwegian sleeping hack that will change your life or whatever. And I think it was using separate blankets. I don't know if that's a Norwegian thing at all.
Separate blankets?
Yeah, like same bed but separate blankets.
Oh yeah, not the double duvet thing?
Right.
Yeah, oh yeah.
So you guys do that in Norway?
Oh yeah.
But normally, so we do that, but normally Nina and I do that, but most people would have a giant double blanket and share it.
I get so warm when I use the double blanket thing.
Right. So the way they frame it, like the marketing of it was this Norwegian hack will change how you sleep. I like that. And so can we lean into the Norwegian side of things, but you've discovered something that is different, that is new, that is not just a regular subconscious programming, as opposed to seeing it as a weakness, it's a strength. Like calling it something, right? Like the Wim Hof Method, right? Wim Hof does— I mean, friend of the channel, been on— we've done a bunch of stuff with him. A lot of the people who are deep in that world say Wim didn't come up with anything. Like, the breathing technique has been around for a long time, you know, centuries. He's been great at branding it and telling a great story around it. And also, like, cold plunging is not necessarily anything new either.
We do it every day in Norway.
Right, it's like— but the branding around it, and he's somebody from, you know, Europe, but calling it the Wim Hof Method is great marketing. So what do we call the subconscious reprogramming? Whether it's even a Norwegian word or the Norway Method or the Bins Method or like something that can leverage the part of Norway that people would look to and say, "Oh, it's from Norway, so it must be better," as opposed to like, "Oh, you're from Norway, like, my English isn't as good," whatever, right? It's seen as different and seen as exotic and seen as something special. So how do we lean into that from a marketing perspective? That's where my brain goes immediately. If we're just playing the same game, like subconscious reprogramming, that's what you do, cool. —and I'm sure it's different than what other people do, but we're leveraging some of the— we never want to say, yeah, I'm just doing the same thing as this person, but a little worse. It's not great positioning around it. But what is your process? And then how do we package it leveraging Norway so that it is different and cool, and I want to be a part of it? So first is what are the steps? The Wim Hof method is the— the breathing plus the cold plunge. Has anybody taught it that same way together? Maybe, maybe not. They've done the breathing separately, cold plunging separately, but together, cool. What are your steps to subconscious reprogramming? If there's 3 steps or 5 steps or 2 steps or whatever you do consistently. Do you have a set number of steps? Is there—
It depends on what I'm working on. What is immediately coming to mind is the nature aspect because we're so big on nature in Norway. And connecting with nature in some sort of way, it does really help you to get into optimal states where you can more easily change.
So that's a great— like, here's why you're doing it wrong, because you're not doing it outside. Your subconscious program is not working because you're not doing it outside, because you're doing it full of— like, you're in plastic shoes and you've got radio waves all around you and whatever else. You have to do it. So the Norway method or whatever is doing it in nature. It's like Japanese— what is it, forest bathing? Yeah, they have trails for— there's one close to here where you take a Japanese forest bathing trek. You go to these different— there's like 13 stations, and you— at each station tells you what to do. Close your eyes, listen to the wind, and like, that's what you're supposed to do for 5 minutes. And then you move to the next step and like, close your eyes and, I don't know, hear the creek. Right? So that's a great element. So when something is complicated, it's hard to market. So it needs to be dumbed down to the simplest elements. It doesn't mean that's all you do, but they're like the 3 core tenets of what you do. It's like, 1 is it has to be outside. 2 is whatever else. 3 is something else, or 4, but something simple that it's not all you do, but it encompasses like 90% of what you do. So then it's easier. To share and talk about. A lot of people, you know, Mel Robbins, the 5-second rule, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, you know, right? Is that all she talks about? No, but it's easy to understand. Or Andy Frisella with 75 Hard. Do you know 75 Hard, right? It's like 2 workouts a day, one has to be outside, drink a gallon of water a day, do— I forget whatever. But he's got his 5 things. And it's great. It's like, is that the only way to work out and get results? No, but it gives people something to— build around, oh, what's 75 Hard, right? So for you, what are the elements? So one is outside, that's cool. That's a good marketing tactic of the reason why your subconscious reprogramming isn't working is because you're doing it inside. Well, it still works inside.
It will just be easier if you—
It's not as effective. Yeah. Yeah.
Right. And it has to do with, you know, health in general and inflammation and There's so many aspects of being outside and in nature. And it is something I really connect with because I've always been a nature child. And I was even feeling it today. I'm like, I'm in a big city. Where's my nature? I want to walk barefoot. I want to just—
Where's a tree? Give me a tree to hug. And I mean, your house is beautiful. Like, the forest around is awesome. So if nature is one, what are some others that you do basically Every time?
Nothing that is particularly Norwegian.
That's fine, but like the Norwegian part could be the nature aspect.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think. Well, there are the parts, there are different parts of the strategy I use when I work with people depending on the challenge. Okay, so I do some subconscious reprogramming is just about Putting in the new belief, I remove the old one first. So it's pulling out the weeds before you plant the new.
We're going nature on that one, which is great.
Yes, I like that.
That's the whole thing. Like if you make the whole thing kind of around nature as well, the analogies, the whole theme is outside. So we're outside to start with and we're pulling out weeds and we're planting new things in, then we need to water it, we need sun. I'm just going with it. Yeah. That becomes the model where it's an all-nature metaphor that people can get behind. Even if other people have taught the same thing, you're packaging it differently and better. And anybody who has any kind of connection in nature is going to love—
I like that. It makes me excited. That's a good sign. Yeah. Well, I mean, I'm just like, I have to be in nature every day.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I remember the mastermind that we had in March. You're like, I need to get outside. We're doing our breakouts outside. Where did Anakin go? Just in the sun, like, okay, great. Okay, so like beliefs is the weeds and then planting, you know, the new ones. Cool. We have to be outside in the first place. Okay. What's the third or fourth thing that you do almost every time?
Sometimes it's just pulling up the stuff and that's it. Sure. And most of the times it's pulling it up and doing and planting new ones. And it is the That's the part where you need to listen to an audio file for a couple of weeks because it is repetition over time. Great. That really is. So that's the last.
So it's the fertilizer. It's the— I guess fertilizer is more chemicals, but the watering. It's the watering and the sun.
And the sun. Yeah. Yeah. Because I can remove a lot of stuff, which is great. Yeah. You still need to train yourself to think the new thoughts you want to think.
You've got to plant something new, and then you have to water it and give it sunlight, right? Which is then going to be the audios and the mindsets around it. I think that— see, what that allows you to do is if you just take that nurturing part, that last part of, OK, there has to be some— in everything you do, there's some kind of reinforcement. The reinforcement you give might change. It might be an audio file. It might be a video. It might be meditation. It might be breathing exercises. It might be something. But in almost every case, you're giving people some kind of ongoing reinforcement, right? Yeah. So we have a category of reinforcement, but instead of calling it reinforcement, we're going to put it into the nature context. We're like, okay, now we need sunlight and water. We got to nurture. I like that. So if you have those three things, is there a word in Norwegian that kind of matches that, or is there a— what do we call it? I don't know. Okay. I mean, bins could work. It's short. You'd have to have 4 things then. Come up with something. Or if there's a word that means nature. What's—
It's the same word in Norwegian.
Nature? Natur. Oh, okay. The natur. It's also the same word.
Yeah. Okay.
And something that's kind of easy to pronounce in English. If that exists. You know? Yeah. Outside? Uta. Uta?
Okay, that's rough. So what comes up is skog, which means forest. Skog? Skog.
Skog. The skog. S-K-O-J. Right. Oh, so people say skog. The skog method. Just, it's going to happen, right? Or you have to double O it. Yeah. But you have to be prepared for a complete butchering, like, Of course. So the Skog method. So whether that— does that completely— or fjord. How about fjord? I like fjord.
I love fjord.
People know what fjord— people can at least kind of pronounce fjord. Norway is famous for the fjords. But it's spelled weird, right? Like F-J-O-R-D?
Is that what it is? Yes.
Even if the spelling— like, the letters don't all have to mean something. That whole idea of a fjord, if you can wrap your analogy around that somehow. I mean, we're just brainstorming. Yeah, yeah. But that whole idea, like, what is Norwegian? As a North American thinking about Norway, like, we don't learn a lot about Norway and Norwegian culture. We don't know much. But, you know, fjord. Oh yeah, fjords. So if there's something else like that.
Yeah. Okay, so North Americans don't know a lot about Norway. What they do know is is that Norwegians, you're so happy, what's your secret? What do you do? Like, I get that question all the time, and my answer is always nature. We're so much— we go outdoors.
Has it been the number one happiest country? It's always, it's always one of the, one of the top, but has it been?
I don't know. Got it.
Because it's always like Denmark, or I just forget which country is the highest.
I don't know, it's— anyway, it's—
but you lean into that because who would say America is the happiest country? Nobody, right? So like, you're missing something. Who should you learn from? Somebody who comes from like the happiest country in the world, right? So even if you're teaching the same thing but you're packaging it better, that marketing now sounds a lot more exciting. I want to learn from the happiest people on the planet, not people who hate their lives.
I like that. And I do get that question all the time. What's your secret? What do you do in Norway?
But now when you answer the question, it's not just nature, it's also these other things. Pulling out the weeds. Pulling out the weeds. Planting and nurturing. Yeah. So being in nature, pulling out the weeds, and even— is pulling out and planting the same thing or is it two separate things?
No, it's two separate things. Okay. I mean, yeah, it's two separate things because you can pull out stuff, which is fine. it doesn't mean that you expand your mindset or build your new identity, right? So that's the new stuff.
So it's either like 4 things where it's like be in nature, pull out the weeds, plant new, you know, crops, and then nurture. Or it's those 3 things of pull out the weeds, 1, plant, 2, nurture, but the whole thing is wrapped in nature. I think it's wrapped in nature.
So the nature part is what is helping you because it brings you into optimal brain states. It helps you go into deep relaxation and all that stuff.
This is why you're not happy.
Yes. Disconnected from nature. Yeah, yeah.
But it's like— or even the nature— if you don't use a Norwegian word, it's like the nature protocol, right? Or the Norwegian method. Like, it could still be an English word. But that whole idea that— Like, this is why you're not happy. Come learn from somebody who comes from one of the happiest countries in the world. I'll show you how. Like, that's more like, I want to learn from her. What is she going to teach me? This is so great. None of these Americans teach you. I'm going to learn from someone from Norway, right?
It just become—
we're just taking our, our sometimes our perceived biggest weakness and turn it into our greatest strength. And people, that is a genuine— like, you are actually from Norway and you are actually happier than most people that I know, and you actually like the outside.
Right?
So it's like we're leaning in on things that are actually true and our strengths, as opposed to, yeah, I'm just another subconscious reprogramming person. Right? Yeah.
It feels very aligned, which is important.
So I mean, we haven't kind of fully hit on it, but I think that's some work over the next couple of days to see how that connects altogether. Because I think back to that. I've told you the Canadian mud story. No? Oh, no? Oh, it's like this fancy spa in California. And the highest package you can get, spa treatment, was the Canadian mud spa treatment. Like, Canadian mud is like the— like, I can go in my backyard and just roll around. That's like the highest, most expensive. Because it's different. It's Canadian mud. It's not just regular mud. And if you're in the States, you can say, oh, Canada is like this pristine country. And the mud must be so much better there than the mud that we have Here, right? It's just marketing, right? Is it actually from Canada? I don't know. It's probably like 2% Canadian mud. They just put a Canadian rock in it and called it Canadian mud. But that, that like marketing packaging makes a big difference. I think you definitely have a lot of seeds, to continue the analogy, like you have a lot of seeds to play with there that I think North Americans would really love. Absolutely. And I don't know who's even teaching Like happiness?
I don't know. And my number one value is freedom, and that is like— it, it's one of the main things I want to give people. So freedom from all the old limiting beliefs and freedom to create. That's a whole— yeah, life. And freedom for me is connected to nature because, yeah, they go together.
America is supposed to be the land of freedom. That's their branding, right? So if you're saying, you guys aren't free and you're not happy either. Come learn. Like there's a lot. Not that you are very like attacking kind of brand, but I think there's a lot that you can work on there. It might even be around happiness. Again, it's got to align well with you. But even focused on happiness, if you can lean into Norway's consistently one of the happiest countries in the world, you guys don't know how to be happy. You're stressed out of your mind. If you follow this methodology, it'll help you. And then, and then the, like, the how almost doesn't matter. Like, you just— first step, you got to get in nature. Second step, you got to pull up— like, the analogy becomes a good teaching methodology, but it's a much better story and branding than subconscious reprogramming.
It is. Absolutely. Yes. Okay, good idea.
Well, you got my gears turning.
Are you excited? I'm excited. I am.
I'm really— because you've helped, you know, you've helped me a lot just because of your giving nature and nature. And, um, just like you see, I, I didn't purposely say, hey, Anakin, can you help me with blank? You just see me posting a story and said, hey, I think I can help you. Like, okay. Um, but even me, I don't know how to talk about you. I don't know how to introduce you. I don't know how to share what you do. I don't know if even before today I would have said subconscious reprogramming. So, now it's like giving people the tools to also talk about you and say, "Hey, if you're struggling with, like, if you're not happy, oh, you got to talk to Annikin. She comes from one of the happiest countries in the world and she's got this Nature Protocol or Happy Protocol or Fjord Protocol or like whatever." Because people will remember that. Yeah, once you have that, then content is easy to create around those pillars, um, versus, uh, what, what I think you have now. So yeah, my, my gears are definitely going to be turning.
I like it. Let's go, let's go.
All right, Anakin Bins out. You got the dogs excited.
And congratulations, you're one video closer to who you're meant to be. To watch me coach another entrepreneur, check the video right there next to me.
