Chapters

Not every day is the same. Every day, like one day you'll be on a grader, the next on a loader, and not all the problems are the same either. A good variety and a good challenge. My name's Damien and I'm a field service tech at RDO and Rohmer. I grew up in a small country town, Richmond. It's about 300 people between Townsville and Mount Isa. Early on, my grandfather, he had a property and they sold that business and bought earth-moving equipment. It's been something I've been sort of doing forever, really. I got a transfer to Roma and I was like, every construction site you drive through, you see a bit of John Deere equipment. So I thought, why not give it a crack?
The winner of the 2025 Construction and Forestry Service Technician of the Year is Damian Asbury.
[APPLAUSE] A really big thank you to John Deere for this incredible week and providing us with this incredible opportunity. By receiving this award, I hope to inspire up-and-coming apprentices and technicians to get involved and continue to contribute to an industry that we're all passionate about.
Yeah, I think the spotlight should be probably shed on me team. Without them, I wouldn't be here.
Get in and give it a crack. It's a rewarding career. It's forever changing, so you're never going to know it all. We're always after techs.
