John Deere engineers put the 6R tractor through thousands of hours of field testing to validate its electronics and performance. The video walks through electromagnetic interference testing and the design process built around what customers actually need from a tractor.
I'm here in Chandir's Electromagnetic interference test chamber. You may be surprised to hear a tractor has more complex electronics than a car. Testing here ensures there is no electrical interference with overhead power cables or wind turbines. Key drivers for our tests are the customer needs, customer focus groups as well as tractor validation in real applications at the customer to understand their needs are based for developing the 6R key high power density, simpler controls and intelligent software systems. This is the basis for computer aided design of prototypes which come to our test facilities like this chamber, as well as wind tunnels, tilt platforms, intensive powertrain evaluation and lots more, plus thousands of hours of field testing involving customers and engineers. It's the attention to detail that's important. The position of a switch, the navigation through the display, or the smooth engagement of a clutch. That's what makes our new 6R special. Go smart. Do more.
