John Deere walks through the new 7R tractor line, covering engine options, horsepower ratings, transmission types, and efficiency gains. The presentation, recorded in June 2020, focuses on technical specs and features for the agricultural machinery.
So welcome to the new 7R tractor from John Deere. We have five brand new models, including this new model, the 7330, I have next to me. So what are we trying to achieve with our new 7R tractor? Well, we're trying to increase our horsepower tractor, but not increase the physical size or the physical weight. In other words, we're trying to increase the power density and lower the power to weight ratio. So for example, with our new 330 horsepower model we have here, which maxes out at 363 horsepower, we've not increased the weight or the size of that tractor. So it really gives the versatility both in the field and on the road. So in addition to a high horsepower tractor and a relatively lightweight package, we can also fit some of the very biggest agricultural tyres currently available. So what have we changed on our new 7R tractor? Well, let's start with the engine. For example, we either have a choice of a 6.8 litre engine on the smaller models or the 9 litre engine on the larger models. Remembering it's a John Deere engine and we're responsible for the support, the tractor and the engine. But more than that, like on the rest of our machines, it's an engine built for agricultural applications. What do I mean by that? Well, we quote rated engine horsepower on the bonnet of 330, for example, with this tractor. But then we pull that engine down by another 200 RPM and it maxes out at 363. In fact, if we pull it further down to 1600 RPM, we're we still have 330 horsepower, giving us that constant power range with that important power bulge in the middle. That's a true agricultural engine. So we have five new models in this range, starting at 250 horsepower, 270, 290, 310 and of course the new model at 330 horsepower. So the new R7R tractor comes with two transmission options. We have the E23 transmission and we have our auto power transmission. So the E23 transmission has proved to be one of the most efficient transmission systems on the market. It comes with obviously 23 gears, but very importantly, it's got 10 gears in the working range which all very close together. It has an efficiency manager which allows the operator to work fully automatically with that transmission. Or very importantly, to have a custom mode to match the tractor to the applications or the saw type or the topography that he's working in. On top of that, we have eco modes and preset forward speed modes well so our E23 transmission through OECD test has proved to be one of the most efficient transmissions losing only 16 horsepower throughout the whole tractor. That's a 95% efficiency. Obviously it comes with 23 gears. There's 10 gears in the all important field working range so the ratios are very close together. It comes with efficiency manager which allows the Operator 3 different modes manual, automatic or a custom mode to optimize the transmission for different soil types or conditions. It comes with preset engine speeds and on top of that you can run at 40k or 50k at much reduced engine RPM. We also have the auto power transmission again another efficient transmission. In fact there's four points when it's working range where it becomes a pure mechanical drive. That also comes with Efficiency manager allowing operators to customised to their own conditions and reduced engine RPM for 40 or 50k on all our 7 and 8R tractors. Now to help our operators we have this small deck all just outlining the.
