This is a YouTube video titled "8000 Series Story Corn Harvesting - Contractor Schmiemann" featuring Andre Schmeermann discussing his agricultural contracting business and the use of John Deere equipment for corn harvesting. He explains challenges with corn borers, the decision to purchase a stalk buster and a John Deere Xtreme kernel processor to improve harvest quality, and the use of the My Operations app for yield mapping and harvest progress tracking. The content is a monologue focused on agricultural machinery and harvesting techniques.
Hello, my name is Andre Schmeermann. I run an agricultural contracting business here with my father with all agricultural activities except beet and potato harvesting. We use three forage harvesters in the corn harvest including a John Deere 8500e as of this year. We have a major problem here with corn borers which is becoming more prevalent every year. As a result, we decided to buy a stalk buster because of the difficult conditions we have on the land here. Remulching with a mulch combination is very difficult, whereas with the stalkbuster we don't really have any problems. Another reason for purchasing the machine was the quality of the kernels. In other words, to get the kernels processed in such a way that we don't find them in the feed. As a result, we selected a John Deere Xtreme kernel processor with a 50% speed difference. So we were able to influence the chopping quality considerably as a result and are very satisfied with it. Here at the office I use the My operations app from myjohndeer.com we use that to create yield maps among other things so we can provide those to customers in the post harvest follow up so they can evaluate their acres and see what they harvested. As well as this. I use this to see the harvest progress of my machine. This makes planning a little easier and cuts down on phone calls.
