A John Deere engineer walks through the 7R tractor's new steering system. Reactive steering adjusts automatically during transport and cornering, making the machine easier to control and reducing driver fatigue on long days.
The 7R steering updates bring you more comfort and control with less effort. The first thing you'll notice is the larger steering cylinder. It increases steering capacity, making it easier to turn the front wheels in any condition or for tractors with larger front tyres. You'll immediately notice how easy it is to turn whether you're standing still, moving at low speeds or using heavy front mounted implements. And if you do a lot of transport work, our new reactive steering option will bring you better handling with more comfort and control on the open road. As soon as you put your hands on the steering wheel, you'll appreciate its light and nimble touch. To engage reactive steering, simply press the soft key on the G5 Plus Command Center. You'll notice the improved steering responsiveness during transport when holding a straight straight line, and feel more confident when navigating curves on the open road. When you're turning a corner, the steering wheel automatically wants to return to the center, just like a car when you spend most of your day on the road.
