Adjusting Spray Buffer with See & Spray | John Deere

This is a YouTube video titled "Adjusting Spray Buffer with See & Spray | John Deere" created in July 2024. The content is an instructional presentation explaining how to configure spray buffer settings in the See & Spray app, focusing on nozzle activation, spray width and length adjustments, and their impact on herbicide application efficiency and compliance.
Foreign first, we are going to navigate to the Scene Spray app. Here we can set up nozzle settings and name tank modes, name crop types and adjust our spray sensitivity. In this video, we are going to focus on spray buffer area. Spray width has three settings, small, medium and large. The settings can be changed within the screen. There are several factors that can affect spray width. Generally speaking, going from small to medium increases the buffer by 4 inches. And going from medium to large increases the width by 6 inches. Spray length is very similar, although it corresponds to the amount of product in front and behind the targeted weed. Like before, the difference between each setting is roughly 6 inches. Both settings can be adjusted to find the right balance between chemical savings and efficiency. So why does C and spray create buffers? Many herbicide labels require adequate coverage to ensure the proper rate has been applied. For this reason, the system will enable any nozzle that can contribute a meaningful amount of spray to the target. The number of nozzles being activated can change with boom height and by adjusting spray width. We performed three runs with the system set to each buffer setting. On the first run, the width and length were both set to small. We can see the system turns on four nozzles. This system utilizes machine learning. As software improves, the size of the spray buffer may vary. On the second run, the width and length were both set to medium. The system turns on six nozzles. On our third, the width and length both set to large. The system turns on seven nozzles. An example of when you may want to increase your buffer size would be if you see the weed is not near the center of your buffer. This can be an indicator that environmental factors are affecting the flight of the product out of the blue. Remember to always adhere to the application requirements when applying herbicide. These settings will allow operators to influence how big of a buffer they want to have around each weed. Understanding the buffers that see and spray creates is key to making the proper adjustment based on machine settings and external conditions.
