Rob Pickering, Ryan Storrs, and Duane Jonecht discuss their work in turf management and what they got out of the ASTMA Conference. They talk about their experience with John Deere equipment and why industry events matter for networking and learning.
My name is Rob Pickering. I look after turf government and corporate accounts for John D Limited. These events are critical, I think, for networking and to actually get in front of people, you know, ask those questions that are perhaps a little bit hard to do in front of a computer screen. It's a really invaluable opportunity.
My name is Ryan Storrs, I'm from Royal Canberra Golf Club and I'm the assistant superintendent. So Royal Canberra is a 27 hole facility down in the nation's capital and it's the only bentgrass golf course in the country. So we have bentgrass fairways, which is a grass a lot of people usually use on greens rather than fairways. So it's one of a kind. Did a lot of time with John Deere in America, spent two years on their platform over there, and then back in Australia here. We've just recently building a relationship with John Deere at Royal Canberra. So it's, it's a building relationship and it's going really well so far.
Customers have been very positive about the products that they've seen on our stand today.
My name's Duane Jonecht and I'm the head groundsman at Toowoomba Christian College in Highfields in Queensland. At the college we've got a fleet of John Deere machinery, from gators to tractors and implements. And we love the John Deere equipment. I've used it for 20 plus years and I've found it super reliable, super durable, and the customer service is just fantastic. Coming to an event like this is important just to keep up with where the industry's going, just to meet other guys, talk about the challenges that they're having, sharing ideas. I think it's a great event.
And the thing that I love about our turf customers is they are truly passionate about what they do, they take pride in what they do and they get great enjoyment out of other people enjoying that space as well.
