Ballast & Tire Spacing on a John Deere Tractor

Jamie Norris explains how to ballast a John Deere tractor and adjust tire spacing for better stability. The video covers adding weight to tires and balancing the machine for safer operation on different terrain.
Good afternoon. I'm Jamie Norris with the sunsouth in Brundage.
Today we're going to talk about ballasting your tractor and tire spacing.
The John Deere 5e series typically comes with the wheels set in for shipping purposes. That makes them kind of. Kind of a little top heavy. Kind of want to feel a little tippy.
So what we generally do is space one out like this.
As you can see, the wheels are adjustable.
You've got different, different settings you can set your tractor to.
So we like to get them out good and wide.
And also we'll add water and antifreeze to these tires, which adds a lot of weight. Really helps you get your power to the ground when you start to spin. Really helps you dig in and pull the implement harder.
As you can see on this 5075E.
Spacing them tires out really adds to the stability of the machine, Especially if.
You'Re going to be going on hillsides.
Or any kind of rough, bouncy terrain. That'll really help operator comfort and just.
Make you feel safer. As you can see on the 5075E, that just comes straight off the truck, it's narrowed in. It's tucked in to fit inside of a container. Typically that's not ideal. So in addition to prepping the tires, ballasting is very important on a tractor. You don't want to put too much weight on the front front and not have anything on the back to counteract the loader. I always recommend if, even if you're not going to be using it, if.
You'Re doing some loader work, leave the bush hog hooked up, Leave a disc hooked up. Leave something to kind of counterweight that tractor loader. We do have ballast boxes available. You can just fill them up with concrete blocks. And it helps a lot as far as.
And not even just counteracting the loader.
Just having that extra weight where you.
Can really dig in, Especially if you.
Are doing dirt work, trying to dig, that'll really help you put that power to the ground.
In addition, when ballasting your John Deere.
Dealer, I highly recommend when you buy a new tractor, go ahead and we will put water and antifreeze in the tires. It adds a pile of weight to the tractor.
There's really not a downside to it. I recommend it on every tractor I sell. So if you need any more information on ballasting or tire spacing, just give.
Your local sun south a call. We'll be glad to help you out.
