Basic John Deere Mower Maintenance Tips

A guide to keeping a John Deere Z355E running well. Check tire pressure, oil, air filters, and fuel filters regularly. Grease the spindles to extend the mower's life.
All right, today I want to share with you a couple tips, a couple maintenance tips just to prolong the life of your mowers. Today We've got a Z355E we're going to look at here. One of the things you need to do probably every fourth or fifth time you mow is check the grease in your spindles. So each spindle should have a grease fitting. This one is right here on the side down here. So what we're going to do, so we're going to attach it there and then just. Just apply a little grease there on each of the spindles there. Again, this isn't something that you have to do every time, but if you'll do it again every fourth, fifth time you mow, that will prevent the spindles from. From giving out. Another maintenance tip I want to talk about on your mower, more so on. On some of these zero turns, checking the tire pressure, typically you want 15 pounds in the front and 12 pounds in the. In the rear tires. Reason for that is if those get. You can. You can have an uneven cut if your tire pressure is not even across the front and back. So. So you want to do that. You want to be able to check the. Check the tire pressure just. You can pick these up anywhere. Come down here, and we've got 12 in the rear there. So again, just check those left to right, front to back, and just make sure your tire pressure is even there. Something else we want to check is our oil. Again, this is a residential zero turn. Very easy access to check your oil. Check it here. Just undo the dipstick here and wipe off the residue. And then just make sure you got good oil there. Something else. Another maintenance tip you want to check on your mowers is your air filters. This one is located on the rear here. This one's relatively clean, but if it were dirty, you want to check that. Take it off, dust it off, maybe spray it off, put it back on. But a lot of times it's best to just replace the air filter for better performance for your machine. All right, moving around on the mower, a couple other things we can check. You can check your fuel filter. This is here. If you notice any debris in the fuel filter, that will let you know you need to go ahead and get it changed. But a lot of times when you service your mowers and we have home maintenance kits, you can do this yourself. They come with spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, oil, and the oil filter. So you wouldn't want to do all that at one time. So, not that you need to change the fuel filter a lot, but just check for debris in the compartment there. So those are a couple of maintenance tips just to save you some money, save you some time, and then increase the longevity of your mower.
