Choosing the right John Deere tractor

Trevor from Sunsouth and Foley walks through John Deere's 1R, 3E, and 3D tractor series, explaining which models work best for different property sizes and jobs. Pick the right one for what you actually need to do.
Hey guys, what's going on? Trevor? Here at Sunsouth and Foley we get a lot of questions as to what's the right tractor for your property size. So today we're going to go over our 1R, our 3E and our 3D. We're going to go over the capabilities and features of each tractor so you can have a better understanding of which one's going to fit your needs. Let's go over here and take a look at the one series. All right guys, so we're going to go over the 1025R first. This tractor is going to be 25 horsepower. It's going to have the 120R loader on it. This loader is going to have a lift capacity of 803 pounds at full height. This loader also has a single point connection which pairs great with the 60 inch drive over mower deck. So you can have this whole loader off all four connections very quick and then start mowing your yard. This tractor is hydrostatic. It's got the twin touch pedals on it. Stepping back to the back, you got a full three point hitch back here. This tractor is going to be capable of any four foot implement you want to pull. This is going to be suitable for those 1 to 5 acre small homestead properties, small garden work, mowing. It's really an all around good tractor. So let's go over here and see how this compares to our 3 Series. All right, so let's get into our 3 Series tractors. We're going to have the 3E which is going to be horsepower range from 25 to 38 and the 3D which is going to be horsepower range From 25 to 43. The three E's are going to be a hydrostatic transmission and the 3Ds will be a gear shift transmission. Both tractors will come equipped with a 300e loader which has a loader lift capacity of 1,186 pounds at full height. The 3e and 3d lineup is going to be suitable for any 5 foot implement you want to pull. The biggest difference here is what kind of work are you wanting to do. A lot of loader work, maybe not that experienced on a tractor. So the hydrostatic transmission is going to be very easy to use. Forward pedal, reverse pedal, forward and back very seamlessly. So loader work new to tractors are just more comfortable with that kind of peace of mind. The 3D series tractor is going to be great for any kind of pulling work, bush hog work. You're going to get more pulling power out of the gear drive transmission. You do have a clutch you do have to shift gears. Your Ford to reverse is on the column right there under the steering wheel. So this tractor will be suitable for guys that are wanting to do larger green fields that are bush hog and tilling disking whereas this tractor is going to be suitable for your larger property owners, large gardens, doing loader work, yard cleanup, stuff like that. As I said earlier this tractor is going to be suitable for any five foot implement. The rear axle on this tractor will be cast aluminum which is going to keep your hydraulics cooler with the hydrostatic transmission whereas this one's going to be cast iron since it's a gear driven tractor. If you've got any questions come down and talk to us at Sunsouth and Foley. Any of the salesmen here can help you get on a tractor. We'll set up a demo, bring it out to your yard, give us a shout. Let's find the right tractor for you.
