John Deere walks through its combine header lineup, including the R Series, 700X series, and Flexdraper platforms. Each model is designed for different crops and field conditions, with features built to handle varying harvesting challenges.
The header on a combine serves an important purpose and should never be understated. Proper feeding can dramatically improve the performance of your machine. Here at John Deere we offer a wide portfolio of headers to suit your individual needs and individual crop types. The R Series header is a simple and trusted solution that has been continuously improved to give outstanding reliability. With widths ranging from 16 foot to to 35 foot, the R series headers can also be fitted with an extension kit for oilseed rape sharing similar components like our X series header, the R Series has got a stainless steel floor for smooth transition of crops. It also has a 660mil diameter auger that smoothly transitions crop to the centre of the machine. The auger is fitted with retractable fingers across the the full width. The epicyclical knife drive and the Schumacher knife give for an exceptional performance of cut. So to summarize, the R Series header is a proven, robust and simple header solution for your combine. The 700x series header behind me sets the benchmark when it comes to multi crop small grain headers. With its fast change over time and the longest table on the market, it truly is the perfect all rounder. Header widths range from 22 foot to 40 foot, meaning you can mount this header on any of our series combines with a table range. Working from 490 millimeters to 1200mm, the 700X has the longest extendable table on the market. With its stainless steel floor, it allows even the stickiest crops to flow smoothly into the machine. The stainless steel sealing bridge has been reduced from 32 degrees to 7 degrees allowing you to harvest even the shortest crops in any direction. The large diameter 660 mil diameter auger conveys high volume crops smoothly to the centre of the machine. We've got retractable auger fingers mounted across the full width of the auger, helping even the most stubborn crops transition into the centre of the machine. The auger finger retention clamps stop any broken fingers from falling onto the platform and entering the machine causing further damage. You have easy access to the quick adjust strippers at the rear of the platform. These can be simply adjusted with a spanner or a wrench. Focusing now on the knife, let's first look at the knife drive. Here we've got an epicyclical knife drive giving 100% linear movement of the knife, reducing wear and friction. Knives are driven via a shaft instead of belts or chains, again further reducing wear and friction. These lightweight side knives are mechanically driven when they're not being used. They're simply stored on the back of the header so you transport side knife and divider with you to the field. The alternative mounting position of the Schumacher knife allows for a self cleaning effect and a high performing cutting rate. The automatic height control sensors work in pairs giving you an even stubble across the full width of the field. You'll also see we've made the Underbelly skid plates 25% thicker again increasing the longevity of the header's life. With all the improvements we've made to the 700x header, it is the perfect all round versatile solution. The 700 series premium flow headers are another active header that we offer which actively convey material from the cutter bar to the auger at the rear. The premium flow headers can be ordered in working widths ranging from 18 foot to 40 foot. It has a table length of 1000 millimeters meaning it works well in challenging conditions such as laid crop, short straw or other crop varieties such as peas and beans. The 500 millimeter belts with their updated angle are self tensioning again reducing service intervals and reducing wear. They are also fitted with stainless steel belt covers that prevent premature wear. The large diameter 760mm auger smoothly transitions crop to the centre of the machine. There are also 30% more retractable fingers across the width of the auger. The active feeding system on the premium flow header really do make it a specialist in specialty crops such as peas and beans. The 700 series Draper and Flexdraper platforms has been specifically designed for the high yielding conditions that we see locally. These headers will give your combine a significant performance boost. This is all down to how the crop is fed to the machine. When it's cut it is conveyed to the centre and travels right up the feeder house head first. Available in widths from 25 foot to 40 foot, we've got a Draper platform to suit your individual needs. The Draper can handle oilseed rape crop with ease. The long belts can be adjusted directly from the cab seat and in combination with a top auger present the crop evenly to the centre of the machine. The centre sealing kit ensures header losses remain at a minimum. Like our full portfolio of headers, the Draper makes use of single point latching and auto header recognition on the screen for simple and easy setup. For smooth ground contouring and a low cut height of only 38 millimeters, the Draper uses adjustable land wheels in conjunction with our Hydro float suspension system. The combination of the dual knife system and the double cut knives ensure that you can harvest at higher speeds. The tilt feature built into the header allows the operator to pitch the header forward to pick up any laid crops and continue at a high harvesting speed. Our Flexdrapers use the same active feeding characteristics like our rigid Drapers. The key difference with our Flexdrapers is the flexible cutting knife, particularly useful for laid crops or low growing crops. The Flexdraper knife has a flotation range of 190 millimeters. Available in widths from 30 foot to 45 foot. The FlexDraper has has superior ground following capabilities. The header can be operated in two different modes, rigid mode or a flexible mode. In rigid mode the cutter bar is fixed and behaves like a normal conventional header. In flex mode the cutter bar is completely flexible allowing the operator to get low to the ground for any laid crops. All of this can be done at their fingertips in the cab. The belts on a Flexdraper are similar to that on a rigid Draper. However, the centre belt has got a checkered platform as the Flexdraper is really the specialist for peas and beans. The centre drum leading up to the feeder house can be ordered as either a 16 inch or a 14 inch drum. The 14 inch drum is particularly useful for high volume crops such as oilseed rape. The the drum can be adjusted in two different positions. The 460 mil top auger can be engaged to help convey bushy crops and high volume crops such as oilseed rape. Our 700 series rigid and Flex Draper will give your combine a significant performance boost.
