Customer Testimonial: Sutton Farms

I'm Neil Sutton. This is my son, Nicholas Sutton. We've been farming. I've been farming all my life. Granddaddy started farms back when he was a young man losing the hog business, fish business, cow business. About 22 years ago I built my first chicken houses. And then I bought my son from my sister for my son while he was in high school hoping he would want to be a farmer. And it turned out he did. Then last year we added on two more new chicken houses. Build us a shop here where we can be closer to the farm working on factory.

I didn't start bailing until about a year and a half ago probably. And he'd always said that once I started baling I could take over and he'd do the easy job of raking. But he had a record of 300 and something bales, 360 bales I think in our biggest field. And he always said I probably wouldn't break it. Well, last year I bailed about 420 of it. And one day told him I wouldn't ever want to break that record again.

I really didn't live this lifestyle. I had horses but that's all I knew. So this is all new to me. So when I will go switch like Cooper will ride with Nick and then Cooper will be ready to come home and then Daniel want to ride so I had to switch them out. Then he'll tell me what field they're in. And they have all different names for different fields like the pecan tree patch or the Tommy field. So it took me a while to learn the way they talk.

When Daniel was born, we hoped that he would, he would keep going in mind in my daddy's footsteps and take over all our. Take over our work when we get older. And he's been telling me every day that he's going to start, he was going to start cutting the hay and raking the hay and I could just do all the baling. He didn't want to do the baling. He said he wants to be a farmer.
