A John Deere field service technician walks through his daily routine: unpredictable calls, equipment repairs, and customer interactions. The job demands flexibility and problem-solving on the fly, but he enjoys the variety and hands-on work.
It's actually been a very good day, fairly easy day, but it's not always like that. Start my day off like anybody else. Get up in the morning, get ready for work, get in the truck. If I don't have anywhere assigned to go first thing in the morning, I come in the shop trying to get a plan up for what needs to happen first and then go from there. And usually it ends up getting changed. When you get there, you know what you find? Well, sometimes it's simple, sometimes it's not. This is what it is. Cut no corners, never know what you're gonna do from one minute to the next. You may start off one direction with stuff to go do something with and work so with hey, we got an emergency going on. Whether it be something broke down the highway or hey, I've lost all, everything, we gotta go, just get in the truck and go. Even when I'm driving, I'm still working, you know, things going through my head, what's going on, what's going on with this, what I need, what things are possibly check and answering phone calls, answering questions, walking people through step by step instructions on how to do this, that and other. It's a never ending thing. Even though we're in the day, that doesn't mean that it's through. I may get a call between here and the house or I may get a call after I get home. And it's really wouldn't quite say 24 7, but pretty much certain times of the year if your customers down, you know, gotta drop what you're doing and go to it. One of my favorite things about it, I like to get out, see different things, talk to different people, meet em, run their equipment. That's what it's all about. John Deere.
