This is a YouTube video titled "Employee Spotlight: Meet Chris" featuring Chris Hensley, a service manager at SunSouth. In this personal narrative, Chris shares his experience transitioning from the Marine Corps to a civilian role through the DOD Skillbridge program, describing his daily responsibilities, team dynamics, and positive work environment as of February 2022.
My name is Chris Hensley. I'm the service manager in Clanton. I've been with SunSouth about eight, eight months now. A typical day for me is coming in, open up, service delivery, see what I have. If I look at my warranty stuff, I look at, you know, make sure that my guys are going and they have something to do that they're engaged. Make sure that keeping steady at work, we're not losing any productivity. I came to SunSouth on a skillbridge. It's the DOD skillbridge program. What it does, it allows a military service member exiting the military, whether you've done four years or 20 years, to get an opportunity for a company that will have you in the same job spectrum that you did while you're in service. And they do it for six months and they allow you to go to the. You know, my experience was go here in Clanton, go to one of the dealerships. But SunSouth, specifically, the dealer has to do a lot of paperwork and they did a lot of work to get me into this program. And I had the opportunity, come on as a tech, you know, doing that. What I was doing in the Marine Corps was managing the shop. And then, you know, a couple months after I was here, I had the opportunity to, you know, operate, you know, run the shop, manage the shop. So it's really shown me how transition is real as far as having a transition in the Marine Corps and any other service. But SunSouth has made that not only possible, but a very good transition to know that, you know, we're welcome on the team, and I'm just glad to be here and looking forward for many more years. I love my guys, I love my co workers. I mean, that's just what they are. They come in every day and they grind and grind for me, I grind for them, and it's a team effort.
