Hey. Today we're going to go over how to change mower blades, how to swap them out or replace them. And today we've got a John Deere Z920M that we're going to demonstrate on. Today we've got it set up on a lift. You can do this at home with ramps, you know, however you, however you want to do it there to lift the mower deck to make it easier to access. So very few tools. Today I'm going to show you an easy way, I'm going to show you a hard way. I've got the 1516 socket, we're going to do it the manual way, but then I've also got an impact wrench to show you how to use that. So let's come over here and we're going to take a look at accessing the spindle from the top.
So you're just going to take the.
Spindle cover off and you're going to access the spindle here on the top.
So if we're going to do it.
The hard or manual way, we're going to need to access that to put a wrench on the top as well as underneath.
Alright, so what we're going to do.
We'Ve got our block of wood here.
To stop the blade from moving there. We're going to put our socket on and then we're going to have to hold the top spindle, top of the spindle to keep it from rotating as well. Alright. So then you're going to hold the spindle on the top and we've got a long, long handle here to access some leverage there and then you're just going to rotate it to the, we're going to get it broken loose and then we'll able to hand loosen it from there. One thing you want to do when you're taking it off, you want to make sure, especially if you're changing the blades, make sure you keep it so you know which way. These are obviously new blades, but hold it so you know when you put it back on which way the cutting edge, which, which way it needs to be. So again these are. But if they were used, that's just a good tip to make sure you've got the cutting edge in the right direction. All right, so I mentioned the hard way and the easy way. We did it manually with the socket. We're going to use the impact wrench again we got the 1516 and so make it a lot easier and you don't have to hold the spindle at the top and then just take it off from there and loosen it again.
Ideally these would be old blades and.
We'D take off the old blades, put on new blades. So we're gonna kind of jump ahead putting back on the new blades. Basically just do everything opposite of what we just did. So we'll put it back on and hand tighten it and then we'll finish it up with the impact wrench. Alright. So it is hand tightened and then we're just gonna take our impact wrench and tighten it back on. And so that's pretty.
