This is a YouTube video titled "How to: Change Mower Blades" created in November 2023. It features a detailed instructional guide by Justin Krueger from the Foley Sumside store, explaining the step-by-step process of safely changing blades on a Z330M residential mower. The content is a single-speaker tutorial focused on mower maintenance.
I'm Justin Krueger, I work here at the Foley Sumside store. Today we're going to work on changing the blades on one of our Z330M residential mowers. And we're going to go through the steps and process of what you need to do to prepare to change a blade and how to change the blade. Alright, first we'll jack it up. You want to make sure that you're lifting from a safe spot in the mower. On these zero turns, the best spot to lift would be from the front drawbar here where your two wheels are. And you're going to want to make sure not to jack up ever on the deck to avoid bending. And once you get that lifted up in a safe spot, go ahead and chalk it off with two jack stands. And make sure the machine is off while doing this. Just safely on the ground, move your jack slide underneath. What you're going to need to change it is a block of wood to hold the blade and a regular ratchet and socket. With this model it's going to be an 18 millimeter socket. Just had to come underneath and normally.
Come from the side. What you're going to need to do is make sure that there is a lip down here on the separator on the deck. And you're going to want to pin the block of wood between the blade and the deck separator back there. That way it's nice and sturdy and it won't move. Once you do that, just take it and loosen it up. Once you get it nice and loose, you can take this and just remove the blade in the safest form possible. While you're changing blades, always make sure that your spindle cups are not bent or damaged in any formal way and there's no leaks. Found any grease coming from your spindle housing? And if everything looks good, take your new blades. Make sure that they're faced in the nice right way. The best way to do it to remember is the flat spot is going to go like that. So basically you'll see the natural bend of the blade. Put your bolt in, put it back underneath, tighten it up by hand and it will find its way back like it needs to be with a locator. Eye on the spindle. Once it's on that spindle shaft nice and great, you'll take this. Put that block of wood back in. You just want to snug it back up. You don't want to get it too tight to stress the bolt. Once you have it nice and snug, make sure that there's no movement on the blade and you're ready to cut grass again.
