This is a YouTube video titled "How to: Change Residential Mower Blades on John Deere Ztrak" created on November 9, 2021. The content is a step-by-step instructional guide featuring two speakers demonstrating how to change the blades on a John Deere Z355E residential zero-turn mower, explaining the tools needed and methods for loosening and tightening the blade bolts. The video is practical and focused on mower maintenance.
Today we're going to show you changing the blades. Today we have a Z355E John Deere residential zero turn mower. We've got two options.
Very small amount of tools we need.
Today we need a wrench and then an 18 millimeter socket. We're going to do it the hard way and then we're going to show you with an impact wrench how to break it loose the easy way. So we're going to start with coming under the mower.
Alright, so we're going to put our block of wood here to stop the blade. We're going to take our 18 millimeter and then we're going to hold the.
Top.
And we're going to break it loose and then we can let it down, hand untighten it. There again, a tip. When you're taking the old one off, and this is relatively new, but when you're taking the old one off, leave it with the bolt in it until you get the new blade you're gonna put on. That way you can make sure which side the cutting edge needs to go up or down.
So that's just a good tip.
If you'll leave the bolt in it just like that, when you put your.
New blade on, you'll know how to put it on correctly.
Alright, so that was the harder way to do it. This is the easy way. Just take an impact wrench again with the 18 millimeter socket, break it loose and then loosen it up by hand. Again, there's two different ways to do.
It depending on the tools that you have access to.
So assuming we swapped out the blades and we're putting back on the new ones, exact same thing, but just in reverse. So you're going to hand tighten it until it gets snug and then again you're either going to use an impact wrench or the hand socket. So again, the easiest way is with an impact wrench, we're just going to tighten it back up and then we are good to go and we can let the mower down and get to mowing with a sharp blade.
Alright, so wrapping up here, we just changed the blades on a residential Z355E and as you saw in the video, very similar to the residential as to the commercial mower, essentially the same steps, just different size sockets and bolts there. So again, depending on the tools you have at home, this is a pretty easy, relatively quick fix you can do at home changing out your blade yourself.
