How to Set Up AutoTrac™ Turn Automation for Combines | John Deere

John Deere explains how to set up AutoTrac Turn Automation for combines, walking through calibration, field boundary setup, and configuration settings so the machine can turn automatically during harvest.
Lets demonstrate how to perform an in cab display setup for Auto Track Turn Automation, also commonly known as atta. Prior to setting up the combine's display, we recommend performing an advanced TCM calibration before starting any harvest operation using advanced technologies like atta. With this, a field boundary and headlands are required to utilize Auto Track Turn Automation. To set up headlands, click menu Applications, Fields and Boundaries interact with the open exterior area of the display. Click the pencil icon next to the exterior boundary. Select the headland type you would like to use. For constant offset, enter the width for the headland size you'd like around the entire field. For top and bottom offset, enter the headland size for each end of the field. You will also enter your desired heading angle. ATTA plans and makes end of row turns for combine operators automatically. The best part is that the machine turns itself and re enters the field at the correct spot where without needing the operator to touch the steering wheel and it's easy to set up, just.
Turn on the application and adjust two settings as needed. Combine advanced settings for ATTA minimum turn radius, which is auto populated from the factory and will likely not need to be adjusted. You can adjust the spiral turn setting by specifying the number of passes you want to include in the harvest pattern. This allows you more easily to harvest a section of land before moving on to a new unharvested area of the field. Finally, the Allow Turn with Auger Extended Toggle if you would like ATTA to complete turns for you while your auger is extended, you will need to ensure this toggle is set to off for expected performance. The map module shows you the direction, distance to the next turn and number of skip passes and type of turn you will be completing. To adjust any of these settings, click into the module and adjust to your liking. To adjust turn direction, click the turn arrow and select the arrow in the direction that you would like to turn.
You can also use these arrow buttons to add or remove skips to a turn. You can also adjust the type of turn or turn pattern that you would like ATTA to complete for you quickly from this map module. You are now ready to use Auto Track Turn Automation. For further assistance, refer to the Precision AG User Guide or contact your local John Deere dealer.
