John Deere 5 Series Tractor & Best Implements

Peyton from Sunset John Deere walks through the 5 Series 45 horsepower tractor, covering what it does, how the transmission works, and which implements pair with it for farm and property work.
Hi, I'm Peyton with Sunset John Deere in Auburn and we're going to look at the 5 Series 50, 45 two wheel drive tractor. Very handy tractor if you don't really need a lot of loader use and you're doing a lot of pulling implements, food plots, planting, all that type of stuff and bush hogging. So the 5045V two wheel drive is going to come in a standard transmission. What I call standard is going to be three range, three gears and then as well three ranges in reverse. The two wheel drive you can put a loader on, but we usually don't recommend it. But it's possible. What you're going to usually use a two wheel drive for is pulling implements. So you can see here we got a landscape rake, a tiller, and on the other side we have a spreader. You'll also use it on a bush hog as well. Carriers all those types of things for this type of tractor really starts out into your first entry into the utility tractor. Coming out of the compact and more of an ag tractor, but very useful on large properties and hunting properties. If you need to handle hay and you don't have to handle a lot where you want to have to handle it on a front loader a good bit. You can also handle hay on the rear of this tractor. Very simple tractor, very traditional style as far as your controls and your transmission, but very useful. That's the 5 Series and a 45 horsepower two wheel drive. The other big benefit of this tractor, it is very economical. A lot of times you can be easily under $20,000 on this size on this particular tractor itself. So if you need something that fits what we've talked about, this would be a good option for you.
