This is a YouTube video titled "John Deere Africa Middle East | Africa AgriTech 2023 | Vikar Sheopershad" featuring an interview conducted at the Africa Agritech conference in Pretoria. The conversation is between Emil and Vikar Sheopershad, discussing John Deere's advancements in agricultural technology, specifically their self-driving tractors and data management solutions for farmers. The content highlights innovation in farming technology and John Deere's role in the South African agricultural landscape.
We're here on the John Deere stand at the Africa Agritech conference in mainland Pretoria with Vika, Shia Prashad. Vika, tell us a bit. Right, so we heard a little birdie whispering about you guys bringing out self driving tractors, which is pretty cool. Can you tell us more?
Yeah, thank you, Emil. Yeah. So you know technology in agriculture is advancing so, so quickly and John Deere wants to keep ahead of that. And with the self driving tractor we want to be the first in market to bring in something that will give the customer a solution for running 24,7 so he can, you know, his farming practice can be operating even when he, he, he's able to do other jobs around the farm. And it's excellent technology. So we're using the, the GPS technology which we have the Starfire 7000 receiver on the machine. We have our new Gen 5 displays as well as advanced technology like artificial intelligence camera technology. So that machine is in your field running 24. Seven, learning on the go and give you response immediately through the operations center.
That is really, really cool. So John Deere is quite synonymous with South African agriculture. So I'd like to hear why do you feel John Deere products do so well in our agricultural landscape?
So I think technology is a key foundation to that. I mean we're able to supply the right technology, suit every customer's needs on farm. And also how do you manage or document that the data from your farm with operation center, all that comes into play where it's a one stop shop. Customer can access his data from anywhere in the world and can make decisions from anywhere in the world. So I think that's the key and the future of farming is how do you manage your documentation.
That is really, really, really cool. Vikas, thank you so much for your time and we're so excited to see you guys here at the conference and we hope you have a wonderful time.
