John Deere Africa Middle East | E-Series Excavator | Cab

Paul Setuza, an equipment mechanic and operator trainer, walks through the cab of John Deere's E-series excavator. He covers operator comfort, safety features, and the technical displays that help you work faster and see what you're doing.
Operator comfort and optimal productivity go hand in hand with the John Deere E series excavator. Paul Setuza, qualified earthmoving equipment mechanic and seasoned operator trainer is here to tell us more about the cab on this groundbreaking machine.
The E series excavator cabin is well designed for operator comfort. Once the operator is comfortable in whatever they do, the end result is productivity and it's also designed for safety. Now very important to note that the hydraulic lock lever is no more metallic on these machines, but it's made out of rubber so that it doesn't break off and doesn't break the structure itself. When you get into the cap of this machine, you will see two display monitors. One will refer to it as the primary display monitor. And what it does, it shows all the gauges, the temperatures, the pressures and all that. And the primary display monitor has also got a feature for technicians to access all the technical information that they need to repair the machine. And also on the primary display monitor, what you have is a feature for the operator to see how they've been using their fuel, you know, the averages of fuel usage on the entire job that they are busy working on. Then you also have another display monitor which we refer to as the sealed switch monitor. I'll just shorten it as ssmm. Now what the SSM does, it's got a feature to start the machine and to stop the machine and it's got a feature there for the power mode. You actually can have a low power mode to save yourself on fuel and you know, when you're working on light duty work and you also have the high power mode for maximum productivity. So the SIL switch module will help us selecting those modules. And what the SIL switch module will also help us with is actually the work mode. So on this particular excavator we're looking at, it will actually help you to select the lifting mode and the digging mode. And by the way, the electronics in this machine easy to use for the operators and it enhances productivity and safety as well. I think everybody knows that fuel consumption is very, very important. So this particular machine here has got a way to show the operator how much fuel they are using. And the beauty about the display unit here is that you can assign up to 10 operators per machine. And as the owner of the machine, you are able to now look at how each operator is using the machine. So you pick up a history pair operator and that can help you to develop your operators better. But more what we're going to look at in here is to look at all the design features in the primary display unit. That also allows for technicians without even a laptop to do a little bit of troubleshooting, to just get the details of the machine. And we will also be able to look at what features the operator uses daily. You know, as in the gauges that are involved in the machines, the temperatures and the alarms that help the machine stay longer and saf safer. The cab on the E series excavators is actually spacious and is built for operator comfort. And what is also nice is that the operator has got high visibility on his surroundings, and that enhances productivity and reduces operator fatigue.
The John Deere E series excavator is a force to be reckoned with. This powerful machine is well suited to tackle any and every task it might encounter on site. Whether the application is construction, demolition, or mining, the John Deere E series excavator can do it all.
