He also highlights the positive impact farming has had on his family, including his son's aspirations.
My name is Pekli Fumondi Warero. I'm a farmer nowadays. I went into farming last year. I used to be a sales and marketing officer. Right here we are in Kisumu County. That is specifically in Awasi. People around here are more farmers. Mostly we do the sugar cane plantation. We also incorporate the planting of maize. When we were going into agriculture, when I say we, me and my brother, it's something that we've been admiring since we were kids. It's kind of a business. We use this tractor to do the business and then we also farm so that we can have our own money from the farm itself. Going into farming, there is a friend of ours. He's called Kenny Diogo. Kenny Diogo purchased John Deere so many years back. He advised us and brought us in and said the tractor that you can venture in and make something out of it is John Deere. After meeting Kenny Diogo, we decided to meet the salesperson from John Deere at his builder, Tokkei. He took me to Kisumu where I saw the tractor. That is 5075E and we decided that was the way to go. Tokkei referred us to a bank. From there, the bank decided to give us a go ahead to purchase the tractor. From there, we needed to do the registration and the tractor was delivered. This is something that has always inspired me. Waking up in the morning and then saying my prayers and off to the tractor and then off to the farm again. This tractor has also inspired my people, like my family here. I have my first born is called Wilhelm Jede. This guy was being asked at school that what do you want to do? Then he told the teacher that I would like to be a farmer like my dad. Then the teacher asked him why do you want to be a farmer so that I can be coming with lots of money into the house like my father do come with lots of money. So I think John Deere changed even the perception of my boy. So I think John Deere changed everything.
