This is a YouTube video titled "John Deere Africa | Virtual NAMPO 2020 | Wrap Up" recorded in September 2020. It features a series of presentations and discussions by John Deere representatives including Danilo Aquisto, Fardi Marks, Patrick Kubiana, Jean Ello, and others. The content covers John Deere's financial services, new market initiatives, contributions to the Green Revolution in Africa, and virtual event highlights. The video serves as a wrap-up of the Virtual NAMPO 2020 event, focusing on agricultural technology, financing, and support for farmers in Africa.
Right. A very good morning, everybody. Can you believe it? The final day of Nampo Virtual 2020. It's very exciting to be with you this morning. I'm looking forward to an incredible session today. It's going to be more content than you've experienced before the other webinars that we've been running. So I'm looking forward to sharing all those insights with you. I want to do a quick little poll for you because I think it's really important to see how you've been experiencing everything so far. So I'm going to launch a poll at the bottom of your screen. I want you to go and check out. The question I'm asking you today is how many Zoom webinar sessions have you attended on behalf of John Deere? So how many of these have you attended so far? Is it one, two, all or none? I'd love to see your sort of feedback. So I'll give you a few more seconds to get voting in that poll. Awesome. Thank you very much. I see that at least 50% of you have voted now. 75% have voted. I'll wait to receive one more and then we'll get going. Great. Let me launch that there for you. Let me show you the results. It seems like at least 67% of you said you've attended them all, and only 1% or 33% of you have said that you haven't attended any. So if you are brand new, welcome to John Deere's online sessions where we give you all of the industry insights that you need to know from John Deere's staff themselves. And my name is Danilo Aquisto and I've just been making sure that everything runs smoothly for you today. So, as always with Nampo Virtual 2020, the insights and product knowledge that the team have is incredible and it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to catch up. So this is your time to ask all the questions that you need to ask. You can either do that here on the Zoom webinar itself. You'll see that there's a Q and A section at the bottom. There is a team on standby live right now ready to answer those questions and otherwise head over to the Facebook event page. You'll see everything there. And then within the Nampo virtual software, there's also opportunities to ask questions there which you might have engaged with so far. So please do use the service. We are here to serve you and so hopefully we can get all your questions answered as soon as possible. Right. I want to kick start Today off with our first speaker, Fardi Marks. He's the area alliance manager for John Deere Financial. He's going to be taking us through John Deere's financial unique offerings. And so over to Ferdi for our first session today.
Hi, I am Farti Marx, Area alliance manager for John Deere Financial in South Africa. Our role at John Deere Financial in South Africa is to assist our customers to make it easier and give them access to finance. We build our business on four pillars. The first pillar is convenience. We want to make it as convenient as possible for you as the customer who is purchasing this piece of equipment. We have financial representatives out in the field. They will come to you, sit on the farm, understand your business and propose a facility that is most suitable for your unique requirements. Secondly, committed we want to be there for you because because we know that agricultural is very cyclical and by what's going when it's going good today, tomorrow might not be so good and we want to assist you in that during that times to get through that. Thirdly, competitiveness. We want to be competitive on two areas of our business. The first one is the product itself what we can offer you. We want to be as close as possible to your business needs and offer you something that can assist you within your business and not a copy and paste that on the end of the day is not assisting you in your business. Secondly to that also the interest rate. The interest rate is something what we then subsidize to make it cheaper for you on the end of the day more affordable and assisting to get the cost of operation on that equipment down. Our last pillar insightful there we want to be with you changing as your business change to assist you with new products throughout the time as you change. We then want to accommodate so please come talk to us so we can view changing as your business change to assist you with new products throughout the time as you change. We then want to accommodate so please come talk to us so we can try and put something together to assist you with virtual Nampu around the corner. We really excited to be able to meet you there on the virtual platform. So please come to the website. Please follow us on our social medias where we will then assist you guide you can tell you more about our products where we have promotions 2 promotions currently running. First on Precision Ag where we can assist you with interest rate benefits on that. Also on the combines and the headers where we can give you a lot better interest rates for those specific machines. Also throughout the year on all the other Machines we can assist with lower rate. So can you. So come talk to us. We're very happy to meet you there, virtually meet you there and have the conversation.
Adi, thank you very, very much. I can tell you very passionate about the work that you do and so looking forward to seeing if there are any questions that do come through. If you are on the Zoom webinar right now live, you're welcome to go to the Q and A section at the bottom of your screen. You can go and comment there with any questions that you have and the team will get those answered. You can either go also do that on the Facebook events page and then also on the Nampo virtual software that you guys have been interacting with over the last number of days. Please do go and check that out. We'd love to be able to interact with you there. Right, we're going to move on now to our second speaker for the day. His name is Patrick Kubiana. He's the new markets development manager who will talk us through the benefits of the Smart campaign. So very well. Welcome to you Patrick and looking forward to what you have to share.
Hi everyone, my name is Patrick Kubiana. I'm from John Deere. I'm responsible for new emerging markets. The Smart campaign is a campaign that has been developed by John Deere to service new entrants to agricultural farming and small scale farmers and agrippioners who are interested in investing in agricultural business. The benefits for this campaign is that it's a one stop shop. For example, you have financing in house with John Deere and you have the technology side that helps you manage your machine and then you have all the training that's required. For example, as an agropreneur, how to start your business, how to manage your finances. That gives you good grounds to start your business and be a successful farmer. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for listening. I trust you will enjoy following the virtual Nampu, seeing all what we have in store for you and you will learn a lot and hope that adds value to your business as a farmer.
Once again, thank you very, very much, Patrick. Again, it seems to me like the John Deere team are just incredibly passionate about service delivery. Want to ensure that whatever they do better impacts the way that your farming methods can be improved. And so please do interact with them as much as they interact with you and are trying to get closer to you by asking any questions on the various different platforms that I've mentioned earlier. Right, we're going to hear now from our third speaker. This is the first time we've had a virtual Nampo 2020 that we've had more than two speakers. As I said, there will be four. And so our third speaker for the day is Jean Ello is the regional manager for Western Africa at John Deere. He's also got some exciting news regarding John Deere's contribution to Driving the Green Revolution in Africa, which is an incredibly topical conversation and I look forward to seeing his feedback. So over to you.
Hello everyone, my name is Jean. Hello. I represent John Deere's business in Western Africa and it's a pleasure for me to be here this moment to share with you a bit about the Green Revolution in Africa. I'm sure most of viewers or listeners will recall that sometime back in between the 1950s and the 1960s, late 1960s, through research and technology available at that time, the world was able to exponentially increase food production. However, Africa had very limited success with that Green Revolution at the time for various reasons. The good thing is that we as John Deere today see a lot of momentum from governments across Africa that are driving towards what we see as the Green Revolution in Africa. We see beyond government, we see other initiatives like the USAID Trade Investment Hub. We see the formation of the alliance for Green Revolution in Africa, AGRA we call it. We see the wfp, the World Food Program's Purchase for Progress program, which is a program that is focusing on buying produce or food produce in Africa for interventions in Africa. So all of these programs that I've just talked about give us, as John Deere company, a feeling that we are at that point where Africa is almost at a tipping point towards another Green Revolution. And these being more or less a homegrown green revolution. And we as deer really want to be part of that. And I must say, we're already doing a lot in that respect. We have, as equipment manufacturers, been focusing on Africa for several years, 60 years plus. We've been on the continent and working very closely with small. Knowing that smallholder farmers oftentimes do not have money to be able to buy the equipment on their own. We as deer have crafted a program which is tailor made for smallholder farmers to bring mechanization to the doorstep of farmers or smallholder farmers. And also we know for Africa to be able to feed itself, as the African Development bank has been driving with its initiative Feed Africa, we need to bring in technology. And so for our large commercial farmers as well as our smaller farmers, we bring in modern technology that will help them to increase production massively, to bring it a bit Home. We've done some trials in Ghana where just by introducing mechanization to farmers and also helping them to get access to some of our partners to good quality seed, we're able to raise yield seven times the average in the country. And so we want to be seen as that company that is at the center of this whole green revolution on the continent of Africa. And we will continue to play that pivotal role to make sure that Africa is able to feed itself as we believe. And it's been said that all the arable land, about 60% of the available arable land globally is found here in Africa. So Africa should be able to feed itself and also feed the world if possible. And we are there to help Africa on that path. Just to close what I've been saying, we're here for farmers across Africa. Our doors are open. We have, through our dealers, you know, touch points where our customers, farmers, large agriculture farmers, small holders, can touch base with us or reach out directly to us, you know, to have access to what we have in terms of equipment and current technology that will help them to improve their yield. So feel free, reach out to us. We're here because of you. Thank you.
I'm always so in awe and inspired by the amount of commitment that the John Deere team have towards, you know, factors outside of just profit and revenue generation. They're very much interested in how to help the farmer themselves improve their own businesses and beyond that, even how to help the country and the continent itself continuously improve as we work towards that green revolution. So thank you very much for that insight. Very inspiring words there from you and I look forward to continuously engaging you on social. So please do. If you are interested in asking any questions, go to the social platforms for John Deere and ask the questions there. You can also post them in the Q and A section below. Are you welcome to go and find them on the Nampo virtual software also on their Facebook event page. All the details will be there for you to ask all the questions that you need. Right, it's time for our fourth and final speaker, the man of the moment who opened virtual Nampo 2020, Maryland for John Deere. I'm very excited to have him share all of his insights for 2020 and 2021. So, ladies and gentlemen, for our last speaker for the day, Jacques Taylor.
