This is a YouTube video titled "John Deere Africa | Weigh & Win National Yield Competition" containing a speech by Kevin Lesser, marketing communications manager for John Deere, recorded in October 2018. The content discusses John Deere's involvement in the Weigh and Win National Yield competition, highlighting the use of artificial intelligence and precision technology in farming equipment to promote sustainable yield growth and data-driven decision making for farmers.
Hi, I'm Kevin Lesser, marketing communications manager for John Deere. We're here today at the Weigh and Win National Yield competition. We are part of the competition and platform on a yearly basis. This competition is a great competition which stimulates yield growth and through yield growth increase with farmers, we're able to do sustainable farming. Jondi has substantially grown the technology field and machines today that we are releasing already have the artificial intelligence in those machines to be able to make decisions and on a repetition of what the operator is already doing in the field. We are also growing as a company by buying new companies, technology based companies that are now part of the John Deere fold. Those companies specialize in artificial intelligence and this artificial intelligence is now filtering itself through all the precision technology that we are presenting to the farmers and to the world. We are really excited that the precision technology is coming through to the farmers on a daily basis. As John Deere, we are very involved with the Weigh and Win National Yield competition. This competition is perfectly important for us to take part in as it's a sustainable way of growing the yields in the field and the farmers have an opportunity to experiment with all kinds of new production systems and bring those production systems to this type of competition and share that this is a global trend with farmers around the world increasing production on existing fields instead of increasing land space. So to be able to be part of this and to bring our equipment and our technology together for farmers and allow them to gather that new masses of data which comes back from the field. This actionable data allows the farmers to make a quick impact and quick decisions based on that information. From John Deere's side, we'd like to say thank you very much for the participation by all farmers in this country, but also the farmers particularly taking part in this competition. This is a great opportunity that they have to come and show us what they really made of and how they increase those yields. We're exceptionally glad to be part of this and like to thank everybody who's part of this competition and all the other participants and sponsors. Sam.
