John Deere Apprentice Technician Q&A

Apprentice technicians at John Deere dealerships talk about their training, what drew them to the job, and where they want to go next. They cover what the work is actually like, how customers treat you, and why the career path matters to them.
Being able to work with so many different machines and so many different people and I guess the customers are always great.
Getting to watch the senior technicians show you the ropes and obviously helping the customer the end of the day, getting farmers going, especially during harvests, seeding and spraying, when it's vital that they get their job done, basically providing an excellent.
Service, knowing that your customers are walking out satisfied and happy is very rewarding.
Go find a local branch that are looking for people. Even if it's just work experience or a trade assistant, just go for it. It's one way to get your foot in the door. And after that you got the right ed, they'll be keen to take you on. There's a lot of experiences that sort of will make you develop and you may not realise at the time, but if you take on the advice from the other techs around you, it will definitely assist you with developing. As a technician, there's never a time that's too late to actually make that transition onto the tools and it's been good for me and I can highly recommend it.
Well, started in general retail, just automotive, nothing overly big. And then I saw something come up locally with the John Deere name and I thought maybe something a bit new and exciting. So put me name down and they called me back and here we are.
I was just looking for something that was entry level for my age, coming straight out of school and it was perfect with the training that I offered and the opportunities, hopefully more of like a manager's role. I'd love to be able to pass on my expertise onto younger me's, really.
I really want to be an ambassador for other people to want to experience the rewards that I have.
I would love to work up within my dealership and work towards management and soon finish my apprenticeship and continue developing my skills. Five years from now, I sort of see myself becoming a parts manager because I finished my apprenticeship quite early than expected. I've already been talking to my branch manager and getting parts manager access. I really couldn't see myself going anywhere different from parts.
