Bradley Skinner and other technicians discuss Australia's Ag and Turf Service Technician of the Year competition. The video captures winners reflecting on the challenges of the work, why the award matters for attracting talent to agriculture and construction, and the value of technical training.
What an exceptional experience this has all been.
I mean, even to get this far, it's cool to be acknowledged and recognised. I suppose to actually win, it would be really awesome. It's been challenging. Yeah, definitely. Some stuff I've never done before.
I think everyone just wants to do their best.
We're looking for that combination of both technical and diagnostic skills. I've been super impressed with the calibre of this year's technicians. We've seen some really great skills and expertise in action this week. You know, you come out of every testing and learn something new or something you didn't know before. So I think, win or lose, this whole experience has been fantastic.
The winner for tonight's Ag and Turf Service Technician of the Year for Australia is Bradley Skinner. Very humbled and surreal, like, just, yeah, actually put all this work and effort.
In and it's paid off in the long run.
So with the nerves, I try and sort of nothing about what's coming up. So deep, deep breaths.
To be completely honest with you, I was totally shocked when I was the finalist. Now I'm totally shocked that I've won.
So, yeah, I was surprised and really upset that I then had to get up and make a speech in front of 200 people. Proud moment for myself and just, you.
Know, to represent the branch and the.
Team back home, I mean, it means everything to me and it's an absolute honour even to have got this far, especially coming up against the people I've come up against.
It feels amazing, like, quite shocking, actually. Like never really expected this to happen. This is an absolutely amazing experience and if you're going to go for it, go for it. It's brilliant.
Attracting talent into the agriculture and construction industries is really important. Obviously, there's all sorts of roles that people can play and that's why we continue to invest in their training, but also awards like this to celebrate and recognize the important role that they play.
