John Deere Connectivity Technology Series – Episode 5 – Standard & Economy Mode

Learn to read your tractor's real-time engine load and speed in the Operations Center to switch between Standard mode for heavy work like plowing and Economy mode for lighter tasks like spraying. This cuts fuel costs and extends machine life.
Chapters
In this video, we'll learn and analyze tractor performance data to optimize field operations. While the tractor is working in the field, its operational data, such as engine load and engine speed, can be monitored through the John Deere Operations Center app. When the tractor is active, you can view its real-time performance under the Map tab in the Right Now section. This interface displays key metrics like engine load and engine speed. By analyzing these parameters, you can advise the operator to switch between Standard and Economy modes based on the workload. Let's understand both modes. Standard mode is ideal for heavy-duty tasks like plowing, tilling, or hauling. This is best suited for situations where power is more important than fuel savings. Economy mode is better suited for lighter operations such as spraying, transport, or light tillage. It helps save fuel by lowering engine RPM and optimizing power output. For example, when performing heavy load tasks like plowing, the engine operates under high load, so select Standard mode to ensure maximum power and torque. For light load activities such as seeding and carrying empty trolley, the engine runs under low load, so switch to economy mode to optimize fuel efficiency. Based on the engine load and engine speed data of Operation Center, customers can suggest to operator to switch between standard and economy mode. Leveraging this data effectively allows customers to make informed decisions that enhance productivity, reduce operational costs, and support long-term machine health.
