Vaughan Smith shows off Le Petit Farmlet, his small property in West Auckland, New Zealand, and walks through the animals he keeps and what he does there. It's a straightforward look at rural life on a modest scale.
Hello, I am Vaughan Smith and I talk on the radio for a living. But as soon as that's done, I retreat here to my little slice of green paradise and play with animals all afternoon. Well, our place here is in rural West Auckland and we call it Le Petit Farmlet. It's not big enough to be a farm and French sounds a bit fancier. It's just a little block of land. We've got about three and a half acres. All of our animals purely ornamental. We started with the goats. They were our first animals when we got here. They were an SPCA rescue situation. Harold and Helen started the theme of naming all of our animals with H. Then we got our two highland cows. Hermione, this is Humphrey. He is a steer, but he is definitely the man of the house. I mean, with the horns that size, who's gonna argue with him? And then Hermione had a very special visit with a very special man. And nine months later we got. Ha. Alright, step one is gonna be to scrape the top of this off. Cause it looks dry at the moment, but with a little bit of rain that's gonna turn straight back to a slurry. So we're gonna pop the leveler on and take, well, 150 mil.
