This is a YouTube video titled "John Deere Graduate Ben Kelly" featuring Ben Kelly, a production systems manager at John Deere. In this video, Ben discusses his experience with the John Deere graduate program, the future of agriculture with digital and autonomous technologies, and the rewarding aspects of his job, including making a positive impact on customers and the agricultural industry. The content was created in July 2021.
I applied for the program because I knew the John Deere name as a kid growing up in agriculture and I just. That's the ultimate when you're in agriculture is to work for a company that you see as a leader. My name is Ben Kelly and my role at John Deere is production systems manager. The graduate program really gave me the opportunity to choose how I wanted to develop my career. The future of agriculture is very bright. What it will look like we're moving into a more digitised landscape, a more autonomous farming landscape. One, I think that is a really exciting space to be working in, but two, I think that really offers a pathway for probably non traditional skill sets to come into agriculture and really have a fulfilling career in an area where, you know you're making a difference to consumers around producing food and also the environment and producing a more environmentally sustainable agricultural system. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is going on farm and visiting customers and talking to them about the challenges they are facing, the problems they are facing. And one of the most satisfying things is when you drive away from that customer visit and having that feeling that I've made a difference. I guess over time in that 15 year period, I've really learnt that in my role I can actually have an impact that changes agriculture. And so that for me is probably what drives me to work. Come to work every day and enjoy what I do is I feel like we're actually making actual change in the industry for the better, for our customers.
