John Deere: Grains - Brett and Kirrilee Warr, Agnire Farming Company, Yuna, WA

This is a YouTube video titled "John Deere: Grains - Brett and Kirrilee Warr, Agnire Farming Company, Yuna, WA" featuring Brett and Kirrilee Warr discussing their farming operations, the use of John Deere technology for improving efficiency and productivity, and their approach to sustainable agriculture. The content includes multiple speakers sharing insights about farming practices and equipment, recorded in January 2020.
I'm third generation farmer. My wife was born and bred on a farm as well. Couldn't get a better place to bring up children.
Brett is very practitioner orientated and does all the operations and my role really is the business side of things. I really look at what is the return on investment and then how that fits into our financial situation.
This year is very dry, a bit challenging. You just can't afford to lose grain in any year. But on a year like this it's paramount. You just can't lose anything.
Anything that can give us efficiency in our productivity is really beneficial. So we look towards John Deere and the dealer here in Geraldton.
The local John Deere dealer brought their header out to do a demo. It just blew our header away. We had that demo six years ago which got our footy in the door and then in the last five years we've grown our fleet. Now we have an 8R, the 9R here and then we've got a 9RX and the two headers, the 680 and the 780.
Precision has become a huge thing in farming now. John Deere is definitely moving forward with technology a lot faster than I anticipated.
Those real time decisions that we can make are really important to our profitability and sustainability.
Harvest time all our data is fed into my John Deere as we're harvesting and get all our harvest yield data and create prescription maps. Really easy. You can make it as basic or as advanced as you like.
We've been collecting Yield data for 10 years now. It's a lot easier to use that data with John Deere.
Last year we did a deep ripping trial, no rip versus deep rip. We had it all marked out on operations centre and then it was just as simple as going across it with the header. The results from that means we've got to dig a lot deeper because there's a lot of yield response there. Gem 4 having the same screen in all your machines makes life so much easier.
If you've got an issue where you might be throwing a bit of grain out, Interactive combine adjust on the screen. It will step you through changes that you can make and then give you a graph of your performance. It's a very handy tool.
Connect mobile grain loss app Maps out your paddock to your grain losses so you can see where you're really utilising the combine to full potential. We've got two headers running together with infield data sharing. You can see what the other guy's doing right alongside you. You don't have to change much and you can get big results. And to see that side by side between the two headers has been incredible.
It's really important that we know we've got the backup when things don't go so right and we can keep our operations moving smoothly.
The local John Deere dealership. One phone call, things are sorted and on their way. It's 45 minutes from here to town and there's someone here in 50. I can't fault them at all.
Around here, there's actually a bit of a move towards green. Any gain is important, but it adds up even more in a tighter year. So why wouldn't you move?
We see John Deere as a good fit for us and where that places us in terms of agriculture and doing it on a global market, to know that we're part of the bigger, greater good of the world and someone is there that shares that belief and passion around agriculture, it's really important that will hopefully help us continue farming right through for the next generation to perhaps be farmers themselves.
